2006 MASERATI GRANSPORT

This Maserati GranSport is a well-presented example of the Giugiaro-designed sporting GT. Featuring a Ferrari-built 4.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 producing 395bhp, this model was only available with the Cambiocorsa automated manual transmission with paddle shift. The odometer shows only 40,272km (25,024 miles) from new.

First registered on 31 October 2006 in Hong Kong, this GranSport was previously owned by GT racing driver Alexander West. It was imported into the UK in 2017 by the current registered keeper, who remains the only owner on the V5C log book.

Finished in the original hue of Blu Mediterraneo, the GranSport’s taut and aggressive lines are free of dents or scratches, with some stone chips having been touched in upon import to the UK. The vendor notes that there is also an imperfection on the passenger door underneath the window trim, and a small bubble under the nearside rear light cluster - a common and minor issue with this model. Otherwise, the paint finish remains in very good order.

The badging, front and rear chrome mesh grilles, and the exhaust tips are in great shape with no damage. Its windscreen and side glasses are undamaged, though the rear window has some minor delamination. The ‘Trofeo’ alloy wheels are finished in silver, and appear to be in excellent condition.

Moving inside, the Maserati is finished in dark blue leather with Alcantara inserts. The front sport seats have some minor wear on the bolsters, but the upholstery is generally in very good condition for its age. There is carbon-fibre trim on the central dashboard panel, around the steering wheel rim, and used for the transmission tunnel cover – all of which is in superb order.

The seller notes that the air vent surrounds have lost their metallic colour in places, and that the dashboard coating has a slightly ‘sticky’ finish in places. There are also a few patches of bubbling and blemishes in the coating on the side panel interior trims. The switchgear is all working as it should, and there are no electrical faults in the vehicle.

The seller reports that the car has a comprehensive service history, with the most recent scheduled maintenance taking place in 2018 at Italian supercar specialist Autofficina. Prior to this, the car was well-maintained in Hong Kong, and there is a raft of paperwork showing the regular servicing carried out. The complete clutch system was replaced in January 2013 at 31,366km during a major service.

The most recent MOT test was on 8 July 2020 at 39,784km, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. All wheels are shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, which were fitted two years ago, and still have ample tread having covered only 1,000km.

Accompanying the car is a very good file of paperwork showing the service history from new, as well as the original handbooks and tool kit.

A handsome Italian performance car, the Maserati GranSport boasts a much improved driving experience over the standard 4200 Coupe. This well-maintained low-mileage example would make a great addition to any collection, and is sure to impress its next owner with its sophistication, pace, and sharp handling.

All cars and motorbikes on Collecting Cars are run through an online HPI check. This vehicle shows no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and has no finance owing.
