2006 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 'TWISTED'

This 2006 Land Rover Defender 110 is a rugged 4x4 with a high performance ‘Twisted’ conversion and various upgrades. Under the bonnet sits a 2.5-litre Td5 engine, which has been remapped in conjunction with a boost override box to produce 180bhp, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 109,167 miles from new.

This Defender 110 has been the subject of a ‘Twisted’ upgrade programme, which includes the ECU remap, a full K&N induction kit and filter, sliding blind spot windows with privacy glass, 18-inch alloy wheels, a tubular rear step and a towing bar. Inside, the car now features heated Recaro CS seats, along with soundproofing measures and re-trimmed carpets and headlining.

The transfer box has been swapped for a 1.222 ratio alternative, for more refinement at motorway cruising speeds. However, the owner reports the car is still low-geared enough for off-road use and that the Twisted re-map has improved torque in the lower rev range. The car also features a solid mass flywheel conversion, an upgraded Stage One clutch and a lighter clutch spring from LOF Land Rover Clutches in Shepshed. Other enhancements include EBC brake pads, a clutch lock, full breather kit, RDX vents, smoked LED lights, a heated windscreen, and a stainless steel de-cat exhaust. First registered in March 2006, this Defender has been with its current keeper for eight months.

The bodywork is all in good shape, and the condition of its Triumph Forest Green paintwork has been described as fair. The vendor has reported some paint chips on the corners of the vehicle, along with various age-related scratches and scuffs, namely around the front end, door panels and roof edges. One very small dent has been pointed out on the passenger door, and the vendor reports that the bulkhead and ventilation flaps appear to have been touched-in by a previous owner. The vehicle rides on a set of 18-inch wheels, which have some light scratches, but are otherwise in good condition.

Inside, the condition of the black leather heated Recaro seats has been described as excellent, and they present with just some very light creasing. The vendor has reported a very small crack to the dashboard, and there are a few screws missing from the instrument cluster. There are also some light marks on the door cards. All of the electrics are believed to work as they should, and there are no warning lights on the dashboard.

The last routine maintenance was carried out in August 2020 at 104,948 miles, where technicians at Classic Carriages changed the oils for the engine, gearbox, differential and transfer box, along with the coolant and filters. Prior to this, recent routine maintenance has also been undertaken May 2018 and August 2015.

The most recent MOT test was on 31 December 2020 at 107,538 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The wheels are wrapped with a set of BFGoodrich All Terrain tyres, which are reported to have lots of tread remaining, and are now around five years old. 

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s handbook and service book, along with a raft of MOT certificates and maintenance invoices. A ratchet high-lift jack, which hooks into the bumpers, will be included in the sale, along with a spare wheel, wrench and socket.

This Land Rover Defender 110 Td5 ‘Twisted’ is a modified off-roader presented in good order, with a number of cosmetic and performance-enhancing upgrades, as well as a re-trimmed interior. A 4x4 with serious presence, this ‘Twisted’ Defender would make a practical daily driver or a capable off-road toy.
