2005 SUBARU IMPREZA 2.5 WRX STi TYPE UK - PPP

This 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type-UK is a smart example of the rally-bred performance saloon, which has been enhanced via the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP) and presents in very good condition. Under the bonnet is the 2.5-litre flat-four boxer engine, producing 316bhp and 332lb-ft of torque, driving all four wheels via the six-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays 60,214 miles from new.

First registered on 5 September 2005, this already high-performance Impreza was given an extra boost of power thanks to its dealer-fitted Prodrive Performance Pack, which includes a recalibrated ECU, higher-capacity fuel pump and stainless-steel exhaust system, increasing torque by up to 20% and power by around 15%.

Specified with Obsidian Black Pearl paintwork over the trademark blue and black STi interior, it was also fitted with a set of 18-inch gunmetal grey Prodrive GT1 alloy wheels. The Impreza is now offered for sale by the trade, having been part exchanged against another car from their stock.

The sale includes the cherished registration ‘L555 STV’, which conjures images of the iconic ‘L555’ plates used on numerous Subaru WRC cars – reflecting its sponsor of the era, British cigarette brand State Express 555. STV is perhaps also highly appropriate for a ‘Subaru Turbocharged Vehicle’.

This STi’s unmistakable bodywork is not believed to have ever suffered from any accident damage, and all of the panels are straight, with good shut lines and panel gaps. Its sleek Obsidian Black Pearl finish is also in good shape, and while it has been resprayed in places at some point, this was done to a high standard. The seller notes that there are some stone chips to the finish on the bonnet and front bumper, as well as minor scratches and chips on the lower section of the driver’s door, but these are relatively small imperfections.

All of the car’s correct badges and STi decals are in place, and the light lenses are also in good order and are free of any chips or cracks. The 18-inch Prodrive GT1 alloy wheels are in great shape and have no significant blemishes on their gunmetal grey paintwork. All four are fitted with RB320-style centre caps, and gold Brembo callipers grip the brake discs behind.

Stepping inside, the cabin remains almost entirely original, and is in excellent condition for the car’s age and mileage. Upholstered in black fabric with blue synthetic suede centres, the seats are in very good order, with few signs of wear or defects. The interior trim is also largely unmarked, save for some scratches to the plastic surrounding the driver’s door-opening. There are also some minor signs of wear to the edges of the steering wheel, but this does not detract from the cabin’s otherwise impressive condition.

An aftermarket double-DIN Pioneer stereo has replaced the car’s original unit, and features Bluetooth and USB connectivity for added convenience. The vendor reports that all of the interior buttons, switches and electrical items work without fault, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

This Impreza’s most recent service was carried out in October 2018 at 58,228 miles by G&J Testing and Servicing, who also serviced the car in August 2017 at 56,242 miles. Prior to this, it was serviced by Wolverhampton Subaru in June 2016 at 54,503 miles, and the car’s cambelt was last replaced in June 2010 at 32,169 miles by Ian Grieve Subaru. This Japanese performance saloon’s last MOT test was conducted on 14 June 2019 at an indicated 59,451 miles, resulting in a first-time pass with no warnings or advisories. All four of its alloy wheels are fitted with Toyo Proxes C1S tyres, which date to 2016 and have 4.5mm-5mm of tread remaining.

The car will be accompanied by its original handbooks, stamped service book and Prodrive certificate, as well as its full tool kit, pre-sales inspection certificate, Trackstar tracker certificate and two keys.
