This Renaultsport Clio 182 is a tidy example of a modern classic hot hatch, which has enjoyed low-mileage use with its current owner and is being sold at No Reserve. Its 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine produces 180bhp, coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently indicates 85,634 miles from new.

First registered in November 2005, this Clio has six previous keepers on the log book, and has been in the vendor’s ownership for nearly four years. During this time, the owner has covered around 2,000 miles per year and the vehicle has received regular maintenance.

The Clio’s glossy, black finish is understood to have been resprayed, and the seller has applied a ceramic coating application twice a year to keep it in good order. The seller notes that to the best of their knowledge the car has not sustained any damage to the body. The vendor has pointed out a small area on the offside rear panel where the paintwork has bubbled, though the vehicle presents very well overall. The car’s black alloys, which contrast with the vibrant brake calipers, appear to be in good condition with no major scuffs or scratches to report.

Inside, the vehicle has retained the original blue leather and velour fabric interior, with no rips or tears in the material. The seller has noted some very minor wear to both the driver and front passenger seat leather, which is set to be refurbished before handover to the next owner. There are no current defects with any interior controls, switches, or other electrics, and no warning lights are present on the dashboard.

The Clio’s last service was undertaken at 85,632 miles in August 2020. The engine oil, oil filter and cabin filter were replaced, while the vehicle’s exhaust clamps were changed, as were the oxygen downstream sensor and door barrel kit. Fresh front and rear brake pads were also fitted, along with new front brake discs.

At the previous two service intervals, carried out in March 2019 and March 2018, the owner dealt with an airbag light problem, a minor water leak in the boot due to a misaligned seal, and fitted a new exhaust centre bracket, brake caliper, rear brake discs, pads and bearings. The offside rear coil spring was also replaced.

Notably, the vehicle received a new engine in 2011 due to a broken timing belt, and this 2.0-litre motor has covered approximately 17,255 miles. The most recent cambelt change was in September 2017.

The car's last MOT test was on 5 November 2019 at 84,292 miles, which resulted in a pass, with advisories to monitor play in the steering rack inner joints and some brake pipe corrosion on the nearside rear of the vehicle, as well as other items that the seller has since attended to. Two new Falken tyres were fitted to the front wheels in November 2019 and all of the tyres are in good condition.

This Renaultsport Clio 182 is a clean example of a collectable performance hatchback, which delivers thrills whether on a winding country road or at a track day. The Clio deserves to a new home with another enthusiastic owner, who will continue its recent run of pro-active maintenance to keep the refreshed powertrain and paintwork in great condition.

Hi,

Was the engine brand new in 2011 or was it a reconditioned unit?

Many thanks.
