2005 PORSCHE (987) BOXSTER S

This 987-generation Porsche Boxster S in an excellent example of the brand’s mid-engined sports car, presented in a stylish factory colour combination of Arctic Silver paintwork and an Ocean Blue leather interior. It is powered by a 3.2-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine, which produces 276bhp, driving the rear wheels via a desirable six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer shows 56,700 miles from new.

As well as a more powerful engine over the standard car, the Boxster S also featured upgraded brakes and firmer suspension, allowing the driver to take maximum advantage of the car’s near-50:50 weight distribution and fine handling.

First registered in July 2005, this example has four previous registered keepers on the log book. The seller has enjoyed the car for the past seven years, covering some 21,000 miles during this time.

The smooth, flowing bodywork and Arctic Silver paint of this example are described by the seller as being in excellent condition, with only very small marks around the car and one stone chip noted on the bonnet. The electrically operated fabric hood and its glass rear window also appear to be in superb order, with no signs of fading, staining, or other damage.

All of the window and door seals are in fantastic condition and there is no damage or hazing to the light lenses. The car rides on the Carrera S style 19-inch wheels, which are in very good order, showing only one or two minor kerb scratches on the rims, and some discolouration of the coloured Porsche crest centre caps.

As with the car’s exterior, the cabin is very well presented. Finished in dark Ocean Blue partial leather, the seat upholstery has only some small scratches and a nick in the driver’s seat side bolster. The original steering wheel and gear knob are in great shape, as are the door card panels and dashboard. All of the buttons and switches are reported to be in good working order without fault. Factory-fitted equipment includes air-conditioning, the CDR24 audio system, and heated seats.

The car is in superb mechanical condition, and last received a minor service in October 2019 by specialist CMS Porsche at 56,501 miles. Prior to this, a major service was carried out in July 2017 at 56,179 miles, complete with a brake fluid check and a fix for an oil leak from the offside cam tensioner. A minor service was also carried out in January 2015 at 49,899 miles. In the same year, the front ball joint and wishbone units were replaced, along with the mass air flow sensor, oil separator, and temperature control switch.

The car’s last MOT test was carried out on 11 October 2019 at 56,507 miles, when it received a first-time pass, with the only advisory noting some residue or slight corrosion on the rear brake pipes. The only online MOT history is very impressive. While the car has had a few advisories over the last 12 years, it has never failed a test.

The wheels are wrapped in Porsche N2-rated Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, with the rear 265/35 ZR19 items being replaced in October 2014 and the front 235/35 ZR19 tyres being fitted in February 2015. They are all in excellent condition, with approximately 90% of their tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is its original black book pouch, housing the original driver’s manual, stamped guarantee and maintenance record, and all other user guides. The service booklet documents services every two years from new, solely at Porsche main dealers and specialists. Furthermore, the original new car invoice from delivery in July 2005 is also present.

This Porsche Boxster S is a well-cared for and thoroughly enjoyable sports car, offering sublime handling and performance, courtesy of its mid-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive configuration and manual gearbox. Presented in superb cosmetic and mechanical condition, this fine example of German engineering will no doubt provide its next owner with many miles of reliable and exciting top-down motoring.
