This Porsche 997.1 Carrera S is a very smart example of a rewarding 911, finished in a handsome colour combination, and with comprehensive maintenance history. It is powered by a 355bhp 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, driven through the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 78,129 miles from new.
Delivered to its first owner in November 2005, this car was supplied by Porsche Centre Mid-Sussex. There are now five registered keepers on the log book, including the seller, who has owned the car for the last four months.
The bodywork presents in good order, with flush shut lines and tight panel gaps around the car. Its Seal Grey metallic paint is believed to be the original factory finish, and while there are stone chips around the front of the car that are visible in the photo gallery, it generally presents very well. The car rides on the 19-inch Carrera S ‘lobster claw’ alloy wheels, which are in excellent condition.
In the cabin, this 911 was specified with the extended leather option from the factory, which means the black leather is also present along the dashboard top panel and door caps. Considering the age and mileage, the interior is in very good condition indeed, with no significant wear on the seat upholstery or trim pieces. Some of the coating on the switchgear in the centre console has worn off, but otherwise it presents well. The factory options included the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with navigation and telephone modules, a CD changer, and rear parking sensors.
The last scheduled maintenance was in February 2020 at 77,717 miles, which is understood to have been a standard minor service. In September 2017, it had a major service and fresh spark plugs at 65,217 miles, carried out by marque specialist La Rose, while the same workshop also carried out a minor service and auxiliary drive belt replacement in December 2015 at 49,272 miles.
The most recent MOT test was carried out on 24 February 2020 at 77,801 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. The car is fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres all round, which are in very good condition with ample tread remaining.
Accompanying the car are all of the original handbooks, including the stamped maintenance record, as well as a good file of service history paperwork.
This Porsche 997 Carrera S is a sound example of an exciting and capable analogue sports car, presented in very good condition throughout. This Carrera S version of the 911 offers an appealing combination of everyday usability and high performance, meaning it can happily play the role of daily driver or thrilling road trip companion - or anything in between.
