This 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is a well-presented example, enhanced by a few unique modifications. It is powered by the 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six ‘Mezger’ engine in 444bhp ‘X50’ guise, with four-wheel drive via the six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 83,900 miles.

This 911 was first registered on 4 February 2005, and it has passed through the hands of three previous owners. In 2012, the owner at the time made the decision to commission a full colour change of this 996, from the original blue to a pure white. There are no markers on the HPI report that indicate any damage, so it is assumed that this was done for purely cosmetic reasons. The current owner acquired the car around five years ago.

The car’s white paintwork is reported to be in generally excellent condition, with few significant marks or blemishes. There is some bubbling around the nearside rear wheel arch, which might well be moisture under the paint, and some small marks elsewhere from road use. The dark blue hood appears to be in good condition, fitting well over the frame. Porsche enthusiasts will also note the original bumper has been replaced with one from a 996 GT2, and the wheels have been upgraded to larger 997 Turbo items.

Inside, this 911 appears to be all original, with the exception of the centre console and transmission tunnel trims that have been repainted in the same white as the body. The Metropole Blue leather presents very well for its age, with only minor wear and marks on the upholstery. The car comes with the original Bose audio system, heated seats and climate control, as well as the original PCM infotainment screen. The seller reports no faults with any of the switchgear and no warning lights on the dashboard.

The car’s last service took place in December 2019, when it had covered 83,009 miles. Porsche Brooklands carried out a minor service, and gave the vehicle a health check, as well as clearing out the roof drains and radiator vents. The brakes and tyres were flagged as needing attention, and the Turbo S was subsequently sent to Charles Ivey Porsche at 83,021 miles, where it received new front brake pipes and flexi hoses, as well as replacing corroded pipes on the nearside of the car.

This followed the service in July 2017 at 81,144 miles, when Porsche Brooklands replaced the front shock absorbers and mounts, changed the exhaust manifold and heat shields and fitted new rear brake pads. During the seller’s ownership, the car has also received a new steering arm and track rod end, as well as a new drive shaft. A new starter motor was installed in April 2015 at 76,333 miles, and the auxiliary drive belt was last replaced in 2013 at 74,187 miles.

The most recent MOT test was on 18 December 2019, which resulted in a pass with advisories for slight cracking on the nearside front CV boot. The test also threw up a minor issue with the central rear brake light, which was insecure inside the rear spoiler. The seller advises us that the part has since been replaced.

All the usual handbooks and manuals come with the car, including the manual for the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) screen and the stamped service book. The tool roll and space-saver spare wheel are also present.

This Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is presented in very good condition, and its refinished appearance certainly gives it a more eye-catching presence on the road. As the mileage suggests, this car is not the type to sit in a garage and wait for the next concours event. The performance and looks are there to be enjoyed, and this 996 Turbo S is ready for its new custodian to do exactly that.
