2005 PORSCHE 911 (996) CARRERA 4S

This 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is a stunning example of the all-wheel-drive, naturally aspirated sports car from the final year of 996 production. The Carrera 4S benefits from being fitted with numerous parts from the coveted 911 Turbo, including the wide body and front bumper, brakes, and suspension. Powered by a 3.6-litre flat-six engine driving all four wheels through an engaging six-speed manual gearbox, this example shows 81,898 miles on the odometer.

First registered on 7 February 2005, the vehicle appears to have stayed local to the supplying dealer until being sold in 2013 to a car collector in Glasgow. The vendor purchased the vehicle in January 2017, and immediately obtained a clear borescope assessment and full vehicle inspection. During their ownership the vehicle has been fastidiously maintained, including a full professional respray in 2020.

The timeless Arctic Silver paintwork is in fantastic condition following its full respray last year, with few if any imperfections. The rare and desirable 18-inch Sport Techno wheels are original and in great shape, though there is a small mark on one rear wheel, along with slight bubbling around the valves on three of the four wheels. The rear wheels have factory 17mm spacers fitted, so that they fill out the wide Turbo-body arches, and the car was also specified with the desirable switchable Porsche Sports Exhaust system (PSE).

Inside the car, the cabin is in very good condition throughout, and benefits from a number of sought-after Porsche factory options, including heated seats, electric memory seats, rain-sensing wipers and aluminium-look trim. The front seats show minimal wear, while the door cards have some minor nicks and marks around the handles and storage bins, though this is commensurate with the age and mileage of the vehicle. There is slight superficial damage to the centre console where an in-car phone kit was removed.

Carefully maintained throughout both the vendor’s ownership and with previous owners, the service history for this 996 C4S is well documented, and includes a plethora of paperwork and invoices detailing work that has been carried out. Highlights of work performed while in the vendor’s care include replacement of the air-conditioning condensers and front radiators (including hoses), new Michelin N-rated rear tyres in 2018, a replacement exhaust due to the original leaking, and new rear ‘coffin’ control arms. A detailed summary of recent work is included below.

The car received an engine oil and filter change in September 2020 at 81,326 miles. Prior to this, its last scheduled service took place in April 2019 at 78,903 miles, and was performed by Porsche specialist Revolution Motorsport. This comprised of a major service, including a full brake fluid flush and replacement. Prior to this, the last two regular services took place in December and January of 2017. Of further note in the history file is a £4,692 bill from Porsche Glasgow in 2014, which included a full air-conditioning service, chain tensioner replacement, new front suspension struts, exhaust clamps, a replacement starter motor, and a full set of new ignition coils.

The last MOT test was carried out on 21 December 2020 at 81,630 miles, and resulted in a first-time pass. The only advisory on this test was that the nearside track rod end ball joint is showing slight play. Included with the vehicle are all the original Porsche handbooks and literature, a number of invoices documenting work carried out, and the current V5C. In addition to the paperwork, the full Porsche toolkit, air pump, and ‘space saver’ spare wheel are present, and appear to have never been used.

Presenting in great condition throughout and benefitting from a superb factory specification, fastidious maintenance and a recent respray; this Porsche 996 Carrera 4S offers a rare opportunity to acquire one of the last run of C4S models produced during the final year of 996 production. It would be a credit to any Porsche collection, and could also make an impressive modern classic daily driver.
