This Mercedes-Benz SL350 is a well-presented example of the brand’s elegant grand touring convertible, finished in an elegant colour scheme. Under the bonnet is a 3.7-litre petrol V6 producing 242bhp and 258lb-ft of torque, mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The odometer reads 61,792 miles.

A UK-market car, this SL350 was initially registered on 1 March 2005 and has been in the hands of the current owner for 18 months.

Resplendent in its original paint finish of Tellurium Silver, the blue-tinged shade accentuates the Mercedes’ handsome lines well. The vendor reports a small stone chip on the rear bumper next to the parking sensor, which has previously been touched in. There are only very minor imperfections elsewhere; overall this is a car that still looks superb.

It rides on five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, which have kerbing damage around the rims, so would benefit from refurbishment to match the quality of the bodywork. The electrically operated hardtop is in full working order, with no damage to the glass or the moving panels.

Inside, the SL350’s light grey upholstery is in good condition overall, with slight wear to the driver’s seat bolster, some discolouration on the seat facings. The electrically adjustable seats are heated and have memory settings for both driver and passenger. Behind the steering wheel, the rubber gearshift pads are slightly sticky; a common flaw afflicting Mercedes of this era. In general though, the cabin still looks smart for a car registered more than 15 years ago. The dual-zone climate control, infotainment system, and front and rear parking sensors all work as they should, and there are no warning lights illuminated.

This Mercedes was most recently serviced on 16 April 2019 at 55,708 miles by Ron Hodgson Specialist Cars, comprising a routine engine oil change. It was barely used between late 2017 and mid-2019, with the previous service being in November 2017 at 55,611 miles, and prior to that in August 2016. The latter was a major service that also included renewal of the spark plugs. During the vendor’s ownership, a replacement battery has been fitted.

The most recent MOT test was on 2 October 2020. This resulted in a pass with no advisories, following a fail the day before for headlight beam adjustment and worn front tyres.

The vendor states that both front tyres were replaced for new Bridgestone items for the MOT, with the Accelera rears showing approximately 7mm of tread.

This Mercedes-Benz SL350 offers an affordable entry point into the world of prestige roadsters. The folding hardtop is a practical addition for those who wish to use their sports car in all weathers, while its tech-laden cabin is full of convenient features. This modern classic is very good order, ready to add a touch of class to any journey.
