2005 FORD GT

This 2005 Ford GT is a stunning, low-mileage example of the marque’s millennium-era supercar, presented in excellent condition. Its engine is the 5.4-litre supercharged V8, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 6,871 miles from new, which is fully supported by the superb service history.

Originally a fully-optioned US market car, it was delivered to its first owner in California in May 2005. Finished in metallic Midnight Blue, it also has the factory-applied racing stripes, painted brake calipers, and the upgraded McIntosh sound system. The lightweight forged BBS wheels accompany the car, boxed and in as-new condition.

Less than a year after delivery, it had been exported to the UK, where it was first registered on 13 March 2006. It is understood that there are three previous registered keepers in total - one in the US and two in the UK. The seller has owned the car for two-and-a-half years, covering around 750 miles during that time.

The car’s bodywork is reported to be in excellent condition, with no panel damage or dents. The Midnight Blue paint finish looks smooth and glossy all around the car, with very small stone chips being the only imperfections. The car has been subject to the popular ‘rear bumper delete’ modification, which makes the back look much cleaner. The original bumper is also included. It is currently fitted with the standard six-spoke cast alloy wheels, which are in superb condition.

In the cabin, the carbon-fibre sport seats are trimmed in black leather, and all of the upholstery remains in great shape. There is very little wear to speak of in the interior, with only signs of light use on the seat bases. The centre console is accented by the bright red push-button start button, while the gear lever is topped with a brushed aluminium spherical knob. All of the switchgear is original and undamaged, and all of the electrics are working as they should.

In stock tune, the Ford GT sprints from 0-60mph in around 3.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 205mph. This particular car has been modified with a Mountune pulley and now produces around 670bhp, so its performance is truly remarkable. The original pulley also comes with the car.

The car was essentially an as-new and barely used vehicle when imported to the UK in 2006, and since then it has been maintained exclusively by Ford GT specialists and main dealers, with comprehensive history from 2007 through to 2019.

Its last scheduled maintenance was in December 2019 at 6,732 miles, carried out by Ford Bristol, which consisted of a standard annual service. Prior to this, it was seen and serviced in November 2017 at GT101 in Essex, and again by the same Ford GT specialist in November 2016.

The most recent MOT test was on 21 November 2019 at 6,732 miles. Initially one of the brake lights was not working, but the switch was replaced by Ford Bristol on the same day, and it subsequently passed with no advisories. The wheels are fitted with a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres, which are all in good condition with around 4mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is all of the original literature and books, including the owner’s manual and the stamped maintenance record. UK HPI and US CarFax reports are also available, showing clean records with no items of concern. The history file also contains the original delivery slip from the supplying dealer to the first owner. The original rear bumper, supercharger pulley, and the optional lightweight BBS alloy wheels all come with the car.

In its launch year in the UK, the Ford GT was crowned as Evo magazine's Car of the Year, with the verdict concluding: “The addictive power, captivating looks and uniquely uncomplicated nature of its performance make it one of the all-time great supercars”.

This Ford GT is a superb example of a contemporary performance hero. Thanks to the development influence of Ford’s global team, the GT is not just blisteringly fast in a straight line, but is also great fun to drive when the road gets twisty. Its head-turning design gives the car a real sense of theatre, and it is always an occasion to get behind the wheel. This is an unmissable opportunity to add this American icon to your collection.
