2005 ASTON MARTIN DB9

This Aston Martin DB9 is a very smart example of the marque’s stunning grand tourer, which benefits from a comprehensive maintenance history, and which is presented in a superb colour scheme. Its engine is a 5.9-litre V12, producing 450bhp and 420lb-ft of torque, coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with ‘Touchtronic’ paddle shift. The odometer shows 45,087 miles from new.

First registered in March 2005, there are just two previous keepers on the log book. The seller acquired the car seven years ago, and it has always been safely stored in his garage when not in use since then.

The seller notes that the bodywork and paint are in generally excellent condition. A minor paint scuff on the front bonnet lip was professionally repaired at Aston Martin Works in October 2019. Some stone chips are also evident around the front bumper and bonnet area. There is also some paint bubbling on the bonnet and near the offside door handle, and small scratches on the nearside sill and offside of the boot panel. Otherwise the Midnight Blue finish has an impressive appearance all around the car.

There is a small scratch on the offside roof, and another barely noticeable mark on the nearside rear bumper. While its alloy wheels were originally silver, they were refurbished and repainted in an Aston Martin graphite hue in April 2019 - and they currently have just one blemish on the offside front rim. The seller also notes that the windows have been tinted, and that a skid plate has been installed under the front bumper to protect it from scuffs.

In the cabin, the beige Sandstorm leather is in very good order. There is some minor.wear visible on the driver's seat base and bolsters, and some marks under the lower dashboard around the foot wells, but otherwise the upholstery is in great shape. It is accented by dark blue stitching throughout, with the contrasting colour also used for the secondary leather and the carpets.

The gloss black inlays present very well, as do the metallic accents around the centre console and door handles. Imperfections noted by the seller include a very small chip on the pop-up satellite navigation screen cover, and a superficial scratch on the trim around the ‘Sport’ button. There are no warning lights on the dashboard, and no known faults with any of the electrics or switchgear. The seller also notes that there is iPod connectivity via a cable in the glove box.

Presented in excellent mechanical condition, the car’s last scheduled maintenance was in July 2020 at 45,076 miles, carried out by Aston Martin Works. This involved a 15-year service, with renewal of the engine oil and filter, coolant, and replacement of three wheel nuts. Prior to this, its most recent services were in June 2019 at 43,042 miles, and in July 2018 at 41,949 miles - both also at Aston Martin Works. The latter included new front coil springs, rear brake pads, an air-conditioning service, and a service of the differential. A manufacturer recall update was also carried, with the battery route cable fixed.

During the seller’s ownership, both door window and mirror modules were replaced in February 2020, and the boot latch was renewed at the same time. A new battery was fitted in April 2019, and the front brake pads were changed in June 2017 at 40,491 miles.

The most recent MOT test was on 21 July 2020 at 45,084 miles, which resulted in a pass with only minor advisories regarding slight corrosion on the brake pipes. The wheels are currently fitted with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres, which were put on in April 2019 at 42,783 miles, and so still have almost full tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is the original Aston Martin CTEK battery conditioner, the tyre inflator, and the tools and spare bulb kit. The original handbook and stamped maintenance booklet is also included, and two original keys and remote fobs are present.

This Aston Martin DB9 is a superb grand tourer, presented in excellent condition with fastidious maintenance history. It is always an event to drive, with the characterful V12 being the star of the show, whether cruising on a wave of torque or wringing it out in fast road driving. With relatively low mileage and a timeless colour scheme, this particular car is sure to delight its next owner, and is ready for a trans-continental road trip at a moment’s notice.
