2004 RADICAL SR3 SUPERSPORT

This 2004 Radical SR3 Supersport is an agile and blisteringly fast track car, which benefits from a number of upgraded mechanical components and is presented in smart overall condition. It is powered by a 226bhp 1.5-litre DOHC four-cylinder engine, which is based on the unit found in the Suzuki Hayabusa GSX-R1500 superbike. This drives the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shift.

Acquired by the seller two years ago, this SR3 has repeatedly proven its capabilities on the track, with the experienced vendor stating that it is the fastest car they have ever driven on a circuit. As well as general maintenance, it has also been fitted with a number of upgrades and a VBOX monitoring system in preparation for its use as a coaching car.

As with any racing car, this Radical’s primary focus is on performance; however, it remains presentable in appearance. The fibreglass bodywork does not show signs of any prior accident damage, though there is a superficial crack on the nose. The vendor notes that the bright yellow paintwork has been resprayed in the past, and describes it as being in fair condition. The finish features various marks, blemishes and cracks which have been acquired during the car’s time on the track, and there are scuffs and scrapes to the side skirts and front splitter, which has also been repaired with a strip of black duct tape. This SR3 currently rides on a set of 15-inch eight-spoke Speedline alloy wheels with centre locks, which have some slight marks on their surfaces but present well.

Moving to the cabin, the car is fitted with a moulded fibreglass twin seat, which has some minor scratches to its surface but is in good shape overall. Both the driver and the passenger are provided with four-point Radical-branded racing harnesses to keep them in place during even the most spirited track sections, while ahead, the car features a new removable steering wheel, which is trimmed in black Alcantara. In line with its intended use as a coaching car, this SR3 has also been fitted with a Racelogic VBOX video logger with front and rear-facing HD cameras, allowing the driver and their team to monitor and improve upon their performance. Its digital dashboard unit is also in great condition, and the vendor notes that all of the car’s buttons, switches and electrical items work without fault.

Routinely maintained by the seller’s in-house team of mechanics, this featherweight racer is fully set up and ready for its next track session. In 2018, it benefitted from a full engine rebuild completed by RLM racing at a cost of around £9,000, and has only taken part in three track days since. As well as general maintenance, this SR3 Supersport also benefits from a number of uprated components, including heavy-duty drive shafts, a new clutch, and a new Proshift electronic gear shift system. The car comes with spares as seen in the photos.

All four wheels are fitted with Toyo Proxes R888R track tyres in size 205/50 R15, which are approximately 50% worn, and the car will also be supplied with three spare sets of wheels and tyres. In addition, the vendor is supplying this Radical’s original handbook, as well as a number of documents including invoices for its replacement parts.

A true purpose-built racing machine, this Radical SR3 Supersport is presented in good overall condition and has been fitted with a number of high-performance components. Having covered only three track day sessions since its engine was fully rebuilt, it is ready and waiting to show its next owner just how capable it is on the race circuit.
