2004 PORSCHE CAYENNE S - MANUAL

This Porsche Cayenne S is a smart example of the marque’s first-generation performance SUV, specified with a rare manual transmission and without air suspension. Under the bonnet resides a 4.5-litre, naturally-aspirated V8 producing 340bhp and 310lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission delivers power to all four wheels via permanent four wheel drive, with a recorded mileage of 88,507 on the odometer.

First registered on 31 March 2004, this UK-market example has been in the hands of the current private vendor for the past six months. It remains in original condition throughout. When equipped with the manual transmission, the Cayenne S is able to rev higher than the automatic, going up to 6700rpm, and making for a more spirited drive.

Finished in Titanium Metallic, the Cayenne’s bodywork presents well. The imposing front end is free of scuffs or major stone chips, while the lights and badging are in good order. The driver’s side rear quarter panel has a scratch which has been previously repaired, while the 20-inch Sport Techno alloy wheels are in great shape thanks to recent refurbishment.

Inside, the Porsche’s business-like interior remains in impressive condition, with some slight wear to the outer bolsters of the front seats, and age-related patina visible to the gear knob and centre console grab handles. This example retains its factory-fitted Porsche infotainment system with working sat-nav. The vendor adds that the driver’s seat side airbag light is illuminated and that a specialist is quoting to repair it, and also that the boot lid struts have recently failed. Other than this, everything remains in working order – with no other warning lights currently illuminated.

The most recent service was carried out on 15 December 2020 at 87,106 miles. This saw the oil and filter changed by a Halfords Auto Centre. In February 2021, marque specialist D&G Porsche of North Shields replaced the rear brake discs and pads, front wheel bearings and front wishbone arms, with a four-wheel alignment carried out too. Prior to the vendor’s ownership, in August 2020, the clutch was replaced along with the ABS pump, starter motor and battery. In August 2016, a water pipe mod kit was fitted at 74,903 miles, rectifying a design fault on the 4.5-litre engine which could lead to a blown head gasket if left unchecked.

The most recent MOT test was on 1 February 2021 at 87,632 miles. This was a first-time pass, with advisories for the condition of the front brake discs. A fresh set of Vredestein Quatrac Pro tyres has been recently fitted.
