2004 PORSCHE (986) BOXSTER S 550 SPYDER 50TH

KEY FACTS

  • A particularly well-cared for, low mileage example of the desirable limited-edition sports car, built to commemorate the iconic 550 Spyder.
  • Under the engine lid is the naturally aspirated 3.2-litre flat-six, which was tuned at the factory to produce 266bhp and drives the rear wheels via a short-throw six-speed manual transmission.
  • First registered in April 2004, this Boxster S is number 734 of the 1,953 ‘550 Anniversary’ editions produced.
  • With only three keepers from new, the car was acquired by its current keeper, a Senior Technician, in December 2011. Throughout their ownership, the seller has maintained the car to a high standard, storing it in a heated garage during the winter months and covering only 6,000 miles throughout their ownership.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

  • Created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 550 Spyder, every example of this limited-run special edition is finished in GT Silver metallic with a matching centre console, seat backs and roll-over bars.
  • Only 1,953 examples were delivered worldwide, and this is car number 734 of the production run.
  • As standard, this special edition Boxster S’ power output was increased from 254bhp to 266bhp.
  • Additional features include 10mm lowered sports suspension, a short-shift gear change, sports tailpipes, air-conditioning, PSM, Litronic xenon headlamps and heated sport seats.
  • The car rides on its correct set of 18-inch Carrera wheels with Seal Grey painted spokes and 5mm spacers. All four are in good shape, with only some minor kerb scuffs on the rims of both rear wheels.
  • The cherished registration ‘H7 FKU’ is included in the sale. The original physical number plates are also present.
  • The car will be supplied with its full book pack and service book, as well as its original tool roll, warning triangle and spare wheel. The seller is also providing various invoices for its maintenance between 2007 and 2021, and all of the old MOT certificates.

CONDITION

  • No known bodywork damage, save for a small dent on the rear passenger-side wheel arch.
  • The paintwork is believed to be entirely original and is in good order, with two small patches of lacquer peel and a small scuff on the front bumper, as well small stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper. There are superficial marks in the door shuts, a blemish on the rear bumper, and the boot lid paint has also been marked by luggage when the former owner used it to for a tour of Europe.
  • Inside, the cabin presents in excellent order, with creasing and minor wear on the driver’s seat’s outer bolster, a small scratch on the passenger seat bolster and scuffs on the painted seat backs.
  • The seller notes that the CD player occasionally cuts out, but otherwise there are no known electrical issues.
  • Mechanically, the car is in very good health. The vendor states that there is only a very slight oil leak from the rear main seal to attend to in due course.
  • The car’s most recent MOT test was conducted on 26 February 2021 at 36,240 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass without a single advisory.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • Formerly a senior technician at Ferrari specialist Foskers; the seller carried out the car’s last routine maintenance in February 2021 at 36,240 miles, when the air filter and brake fluid were renewed, and the air conditioning system was also re-gassed. The pollen filter has also just been replaced.
  • Prior to this, the engine oil, oil filter and spark plugs were changed in June 2019 at 36,064 miles when the horns were also replaced, and an inspection and brake fluid change were performed in May 2018 at 35,715 miles.
