2004 PORSCHE 911 (996) GT3 CLUBSPORT

This Porsche 996.2 GT3 Clubsport is a superb example of the lightweight, track-focused but road legal 911, with low mileage and a comprehensive maintenance history. Powering the car is a 3.6-litre’ flat-six ‘Mezger’ engine, producing 375bhp, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 39,700 miles from new.

Clubsport specification incorporates a factory-fitted roll cage, composite bucket seats trimmed in Nomex fabric, a single-mass flywheel, fire extinguisher, preparation for a cut-off safety switch, and six-point safety harnesses. A second generation model, it benefits from a more powerful engine in the Carrera 4 body shell, plus upgraded brakes with six-piston calipers at the front.

First registered in June 2004, this car was supplied by Porsche Centre Nottingham, and there are four previous registered keepers on the log book. The seller has owned the car for more than four years, and has kept it in superb order using recognised Porsche specialists for maintenance.

The bodywork presents in excellent condition, with the seller noting no evidence of any previous accident damage. The detailed photos in the gallery below present an accurate illustration of the car’s cosmetic condition, and it is clear the Atlas Grey paint finish is in great shape, benefiting from a comprehensive detailing session in 2017 that has kept it looking smooth and glossy even three years later.

The light lenses are all free of damage, and the window and door seals are sound. It rides on the 18-inch GT3 alloy wheels, which have the factory specification body-colour spokes and polished rims, and which are pristine. It is equipped with the standard brake discs, gripped by red painted calipers. The only non-original exterior item is the custom sports exhaust system, which allows the Mezger flat-six to vent even more freely.

In the cabin, the lightweight Recaro bucket seats are in superb condition, with no damage to the Nomex upholstery and minimal wear. There are some small scuffs on the driver’s side sill covers, but in general the interior is in great shape. The seats are fitted with Schroth harnesses, and there is an original Werner fire extinguisher mounted in the passenger foot well.

Its gear knob and handbrake grip were specified from the factory in carbon-fibre, and the interior is unchanged from its original specification. It even retains the Porsche CDR23 Becker radio and CD player. The car is equipped with automatic air-conditioning, which makes it a viable prospect for longer distance summer road trips.

The last scheduled maintenance was at 39,240 miles in June 2020, carried out by JGC Porsche in Brackley. This was a major service that included renewal of the spark plugs, brake lines, brake fluid, and horns. The battery has also been replaced this year.

Prior to this, its recent maintenance included a minor service in May 2018 at 38,632 miles, and a major service in May 2017 at 38,000 miles - both carried out at renowned specialist Autofarm. During the latter, both rear springs and shock absorbers were renewed with genuine Porsche parts, the brake fluid and clutch fluid were changed with new bleed nipples, and a new temperature sensor and pollen filter were fitted. Finally, it received a geometry check. In July 2015 at 36,590 miles, the front and rear brakes were replaced during a major service at 911 Sport.

The most recent MOT test was on 10 June 2020 at 39,296 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with only two advisories, noting a minor oil leak and some slight fluctuation from the front brakes. The rear tyres were fitted in 2017 and still have around 5mm of tread remaining, while the front tyres are date-coded to late 2009 so would benefit from replacing soon on the basis of age.

Accompanying the car is the original stamped maintenance record, as well as an excellent history file with numerous invoices for previous services. The original tools and first aid kit remain stored under the boot floor, and the car also has the compact Porsche umbrella stored in the passenger door sill slot, and two keys.

This Porsche 996.2 GT3 Clubsport is a stunning fast road or track car, presented in excellent condition throughout. Understood to be one of just 239 UK market cars built, this is also a rare modern classic, and a coveted addition to any garage. This car has evidently been maintained to a high standard throughout its life, and needs nothing to take out and enjoy immediately.
