2004 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO VIII FQ300

KEY FACTS

• A low mileage example of the renowned Japanese performance saloon, presented in highly original condition and with only one keeper from new.
• Under the bonnet is the 2.0-litre turbocharged ‘4G63’ inline-four, which produces around 300bhp and drives all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, an active centre differential and a limited-slip rear differential.
• During the first four years of its life this Evo VIII was used as a daily driver. However, for the last 12-13 years it has not ventured much further than the seller’s local MOT test station, hence the car’s low mileage.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• This FQ300 is finished in Amethyst Black Pearl, and features its original Recaro sports seats with blue cloth centre sections and synthetic suede bolsters.
• The cabin is also given a racy touch thanks to its genuine Ralliart floor mats, and the correct three-spoke Momo steering wheel is still in place.
• It rides on its original set of 17-inch, eight-spoke Enkei alloy wheels, which are unmarked and house a set of red Brembo brake callipers.
• While Mitsubishi Evos of any generation are popular platforms for modification, this example is as it left the factory, save for its Ralliart-branded mud flaps and updated Sony stereo and speakers.
• This FQ300 will be accompanied by all of its original handbooks, its original purchase invoice and invoices for its past maintenance. Furthermore, the seller is supplying every one of the car’s MOT test certificates and its tax discs, along with its spare wheel, jack and locking wheel nut key.
• The appropriate registration ‘V111 AWB’ is included in the sale.

CONDITION

• No bodywork damage.
• The Amethyst Black Pearl paintwork is in fair condition, and the bonnet was previously resprayed by Mitsubishi under warranty to correct some visible bubbling. Today, there are various small marks and blemishes around the car, including bubbling on the leading edge of the bonnet, some corrosion on the bootlid where it meets the spoiler, stone chips on the front bumper and scuffs on the front lip spoiler.
• The cabin is in excellent condition, with no visible wear on the seats’ upholstery or any of the interior trim.
• There are no reported electrical or mechanical faults with the vehicle, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard.
• The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 6 March 2021 at 31,847 miles, resulting in a clean, first-time pass.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This Evo VIII’s most recent routine maintenance was an engine oil and filter change, which was carried out by the seller in June 2021.
• Prior to this, Extreme Motorsport serviced the car in July 2014 at 31,043 miles, refurbishing the Active Yaw Control pump as well as changing the engine oil and oil filter.
• The cambelt was last changed in September 2009 at 29,630 miles.

SUMMARY

This Mitsubishi Evo VIII is a very smart and highly original example of the rally-bred Japanese performance car. Famed for its superb handling and powerful turbocharged inline-four, this all-wheel-drive hero has escaped any questionable modifications unlike many of its contemporaries. While it would benefit from some minor cosmetic improvements in due course, it is ready to drive and enjoy as intended.
