Presented in outstanding condition throughout, this 2004 Mini Cooper S JCW is a fine example of the acclaimed hot hatch, which is equipped with the rare dealer-fitted JCW tuning kit and has exceptionally low mileage from new. Under the bonnet is the supercharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, which produces 197bhp in JCW tune and powers the front wheels via an engaging six-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays just 10,150 miles.

The JCW tuning kit comprises an upgraded cylinder head, a replacement supercharger with a reduction pulley, a remapped ECU and a JCW cat-back exhaust system, the kit boosts the car’s power output from 163bhp to a mighty 197bhp.

First registered in March 2004, this R53-generation Cooper S JCW has only one prior keeper, who maintained it to an extremely high standard, even exhibiting the car at the Birmingham Classic Car Show in November 2019. The current owner acquired it one year ago, and has driven it sparingly during this time.

Owing to the care and attention lavished on it by its two owners, this hot hatch’s bodywork and black paint finish are in genuinely superb condition. With no evidence of any prior accident damage, the panels are straight and free of dents, and the paintwork has a smooth and glossy appearance, with none of the usual minor marks and blemishes that you might expect from a car of this age. Furthermore, the John Cooper Works-branded exhaust tips have been polished to a high shine, and the exterior trim is also in great shape. The car rides on its original set of 17-inch eight-spoke alloy wheels, which are pristine, save for one small chip to the rear passenger-side wheel’s silver paintwork.

Moving into the cabin, the seats are upholstered in black leather, and present very well indeed, with only some minor light creases and wear to their surfaces, in line with this Mini’s limited use. The trim, touchpoints and controls are unmarked, and the metal sill plates are still covered in their original protective film. Factory-fitted equipment includes xenon headlights, air-conditioning and an electric sunroof, and all of the car’s buttons, switches and electrical items work without fault.

The last routine maintenance was a general service, which was carried out in February 2018 at 9,464 miles by Mini Park Lane. Prior to this, the same garage serviced the car in February 2017 at 9,942 miles, and it has not required any additional maintenance during the seller’s ownership.

Its most recent MOT test was conducted on 21 August 2020 at 9,919 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass without a single advisory. All four wheels are shod in Dunlop SP Sport 01 tyres in size 205/145 R17, which the vendor states are in good condition. The car will be provided with its original handbooks and tool kit, while its service history is stored digitally.
