2004 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE

This Maserati Quattroporte is a smart example of the marque’s high-performance saloon, and benefits from over £11,000 of original options, very impressive service history and an all-important recent clutch replacement. It is powered by a Ferrari-built 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine mated to a six-speed automated manual DuoSelect transmission with paddle shift. The odometer shows 68,900 miles.

First registered in May 2004, this Quattroporte benefits from a significant number of factory-fitted optional extras. These include a matching leather steering wheel, spare wheel, red brake calipers, rear privacy glass, phone kit, CD changer, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS, front TV, comfort pack, rear picnic tables, Bose sound system, and heated and cooled seats. In addition to the expansive list of extras, this example has been meticulously maintained throughout its life, with a great service history comprised exclusively of Maserati dealers and independent specialist Giallo Cars. As an early car, it also benefits from being in the lower annual tax band.

The black metallic paintwork is in impressive condition given the age of the vehicle, showing some very small stone chips to the front end commensurate with the mileage, along with a minor scuff to the nearside front bumper, and a very small imperfection to the paint on the nearside front wing where it meets the bumper – both of which the vendor advises can only be seen on close inspection and are shown in the photographs. Prior to the vendor’s ownership, one wing mirror and a bumper were resprayed professionally by Giallo Cars Ltd, but the rest of the paint is believed to be original. All four wheels have previously been refurbished and now have some small touched-in chips in the finish.

In the cabin, the cream leather interior presents well for its age. The seat bolsters in the front are showing slight wear, but otherwise it all looks smart, and benefits from a recent conditioning treatment. With exception to one seat adjustment switch in the rear, the car does not suffer from the common sticky button issues faced by Maseratis of this era. The vendor has been quoted just £30 for a replacement switch. The headliner is free from staining, but is sagging in the centre by around two inches. The only non-functioning electrical item is the rear electric blind which does not operate, but is in the down position so does not hinder the enjoyment of the car.

The maintenance and service history on this Quattroporte is impressive, with a comprehensive record totaling 15 services, all from Maserati dealers and independent specialist Giallo Cars. The most recent service took place at 66,098 miles during September 2020, which comprised of a routine annual service. Prior to this, services took place in May 2019 at 63,518 miles and in April 2018 at 60,865 miles, again both performed by Giallo Cars.

Within the last few years, a number of notable maintenance tasks have been carried out by Giallo Cars, including a new clutch, flywheel and position sensor at 64,146 miles; a new gearbox pump within the last 1,000 miles; two new rear suspension arms, new front drop links, and a four-wheel alignment; a replacement power steering oil cooler, new handbrake shoes, and four new Pirelli tyres.

The most recent MOT test took place on 17 September 2020, and resulted in a pass with a clean bill of health after the parking brake was repaired. Included with the vehicle is a plethora of paperwork pertaining to maintenance throughout the car’s life, the stamped service book, two keys, original tool kit and the original Maserati dealer literature.

Offering superb performance in a refined and upmarket package, the Maserati Quattroporte is sophisticated and stylish tourer, able to travel long distances in complete comfort but providing an exciting driving experience when desired. Benefitting from an extensive service history including some notable recent jobs, this Quattroporte represents a great value modern classic, and would make a fun weekend cruiser or road trip companion.
