2004 MASERATI GRANSPORT

This 2004 Maserati GranSport is a charismatic Italian GT that has very few miles on its odometer and is presented in a rare factory colour scheme — in fact, the same colour scheme the factory used to launch the model at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show. It is powered by the F136 RB 4.2-litre V8 engine built by Ferrari, producing 395bhp that is driven through a six-speed Cambiocorsa automated-manual transmission with paddle shifters. The odometer shows just 39,004 miles from new, which is fully supported by its MOT and service history.

An original right-hand-drive UK-market example, this car has evidently been meticulously maintained by each of its previous two keepers. The car was first registered on 14 December 2004, and thus falls into the Band K tax category in the UK, which means a saving of more than 40% in VED compared to later examples of the GranSport. It has been owned by the vendor for approximately two years, who has enjoyed around 4,000 miles behind the wheel.

When ordered, the car was specified with Bianco Fuji paintwork, a special triple-layer white lacquer finish that could be had for a £6,000 premium. It is in excellent condition, has never been repainted and looks smooth and even all round. The only imperfections are a few small stone chips on the nose and a chip in the paint on the front driver’s side wheel arch.

Finished in Blue leather and Techno cloth, the interior is in superb condition, with just a crack in the driver’s door card speaker cover and a few marks on the wide, highly contoured sport seats. The slim centre console is finished in gloss carbon-fibre, as is the dashboard trim and the thick-rimmed, ergonomically shaped steering wheel. The centre console houses the main control buttons, including those for the Sport mode, the starter, the T-bar forward/reverse gear selector lever and other switches.

The chassis and suspension mountings are described as being in excellent condition, and the engine bay is very tidy. The most recent MOT was on 16 February 2019 at 38,168 miles, passing with no warnings or advisories. Its last service was performed in June 2017 by MRH Classic Cars and included a wheel alignment check, replacing the wiper blades, the fan resistor and both front top shock absorber covers, and changing the gearbox oil. Encasing the 19-inch ‘Trofeo’ design wheels, the Pirelli P Zero Rosso 235/35 ZR19 front tyres were fitted within the past year, and the 265/30 ZR19 rear tyres were new when the vendor bought the car two years ago.

The car is accompanied by all handbooks, but the number plate ‘4 NPY’ is not included in the sale. It will be switched back to an age-related registration plate in the event of a successful auction.

With its charismatic engine and distinctive styling — not to mention its rare launch-spec colour combination of Bianco Fuji over Blue leather Techno cloth, and its 39,004 miles from new — this 2004 Maserati GranSport provides an immense feeling of la dolce vita, whether driving along the M5 or Amalfi Drive.
