2004 MASERATI 4200 GT COUPE - MANUAL

This Maserati 4200 GT Coupe is an appealing example of the marque’s handsome noughties grand tourer, with the ability to seat four adults in comfort and style. Under the bonnet is the Ferrari-built ‘F136 R’ 4.2.-litre V8 engine, producing around 385bhp and 333lb-ft of torque. This particular car is a lesser-seen example with the six-speed manual transmission, delivering far greater driver involvement. Carefully maintained and thoroughly enjoyed, this 4200 GT has logged just 53,053 miles in 16 years on the road.

An original UK-market 4200, this Maserati was first registered on 15 March 2004 and there are four previous registered keepers on the log book. The current owner has cherished the car for just over four years, with regular servicing carried out by reputable Maserati and Ferrari specialists throughout that period.

Finished in Blu Nettuno paintwork, this 4200 GT is believed to retain its factory finish, with only minor stone chipping to be seen on the bonnet and front bumper. The paint shines to a deep lustre, and the curvaceous bodywork has impressive shut lines, with no dents or scratches to speak of. The main light lenses front and rear are in great condition, and although one of the rear number plate light lenses is cracked, the bulb is unaffected.

The silver OEM Maserati alloy wheels are in great condition, with no kerbing marks. There are very minor blemishes in the paint finish on two wheels near the tyre valves, but in general they present very well indeed. The car was also specified with silver painted brake calipers, and rides on the Skyhook adaptive suspension system.

Crema hide is used generously throughout the interior of this Maserati, contrasting well with the deep blue metallic paint. The leather is in good order for the age and mileage, though the driver’s seat shows some surface cracking and discolouration, and would benefit from re-connolising. The rest of the leather, across the dashboard, door panels, and rear seats, is in great shape. It was equipped from the factory with heated seats, power folding wing mirrors, and the satellite navigation system.

Most of the buttons and knobs appear to have resisted the ‘stickiness’ which can often plague Ferraris and Maseratis of this era, though this is minor deterioration on the electric window switches. The Maserati-branded chrome sill kick plates are in good condition. The vendor reports that there are no known electrical faults with the vehicle.

The most recent service was carried out in November 2019 at marque specialist PK Supercars of Edinburgh. The work was carried out at 52,856 miles, consisting of an oil and filter service, as well as replacement of the spark plugs, pollen and air filters, and lambda sensors. A new clutch was fitted at 46,325 miles.

The seller has just put this Maserati through a fresh MOT test, on 18 August 2020 at 53,053 miles, which is passed on the first time with no advisories whatsoever.

Testament to the excellent mechanical condition and sympathetic use, other than a failure on minor items in 2008, the car has always passed at the first attempt. Both the 265/35/ZR18 rear and 235/40/ZR18 front wheels wear Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres with ample tread depth.

This Maserati will be handed over to its next owner with the full complement of original handbooks, stamped service history record, numerous invoices, two keys and an alarm security card. In addition, the unused tyre inflation compressor and genuine Maserati tool kit are still present. Furthermore, the cherished registration ‘VB04 MAS’ is included in the sale.

This well-maintained Italian GT car offers an attainable entry point into the world of cars featuring a Ferrari-built V8 and a manual gearbox. With a solid service history and a compelling factory colour combination, this Maserati 4200 is ready to impress its next owner, whether that is for the occasional Sunday morning drive out, or a much longer road trip.
