2004 HARLEY-DAVIDSON DYNA LOW RIDER FXDLI

This Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider is an iconic American cruiser, reported to be in outstanding condition and with only one owner from new. It is powered by the fuel-injected 1450cc ‘Twin Cam 88’ V-Twin, which produces around 68bhp and 78lb-ft of torque, and is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 3,796 miles from new, and it has been serviced exclusively by a Harley-Davidson dealer.

Introduced in 1977 as a variation of the Super Glide model, the Low Rider was inspired by the custom bike trend that was sweeping the US at the time, featuring longer, more raked forks, lashings of chrome and of course a lower riding position.

Continuing that tradition, this Dyna Low Rider was first registered on 20 September 2004 and includes numerous desirable options, including a Stage 1 engine power boost, Screamin’ Eagle II performance exhaust silencers, a ‘sissy bar’ backrest pad, spare ‘Sundowner’ touring seat, Harley-Davidson branded leather panniers, and heated handlebar grips.

The bike has been kept and maintained by its original owner over the last 16 years, only being brought out for casual rides during good weather. It has sat side-by-side with his private collection of Italian sports cars and old English classics throughout its life.

As a result of its pampered existence to date, this Harley’s original black paintwork is in excellent condition and has a smooth, glossy appearance across the frame and body. Adding to the bike’s retro charm, gold Harley-Davidson script and matching twin pinstripes adorn the fuel tank and remain in great shape, as do the finely pinstriped mudguards.

While it is present in abundance, the chrome is in excellent condition and appears to have been kept polished to a near mirror shine, which is also true of the chromed wire wheels, which are unmarked. The black leather saddle is in very good order, and there is no visible damage to any of the displays or controls. The seller reports that the electrics and switchgear all work without fault.

This Low Rider is fresh from a 5,000-mile service, which was carried out at 3,792 miles and included replacement of the brake fluid and a full valet. Prior to this, minor services were carried out in August 2019 and August 2018, when the tyres were also replaced.

The bike’s last MOT test was conducted on 12 August 2020 at 3,796 miles, where it achieved a clean, first-time pass without a single advisory, as it has for the past three years. There has been an occasional MOT advisory in the past regarding the “noisy” Screamin’ Eagles exhaust, and the original pipes are included in the sale if the next owner would prefer to swap them back in the future. The wheels are shod with Dunlop Harley-Davidson tyres, which are in very good order – described by the current owner as being almost new.

Accompanying the bike is its original handbook and full documentation of its service history to date. The seller is also including the spare ‘Sundowner’ touring seat and a pair of Harley-Davidson branded leather panniers.

An evocative slice of Americana, the Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider is every bit the stylish retro cruiser. Presented in fantastic condition, having been cherished by just one owner from new, this 2004 example is enhanced by numerous dealer-fitted options that improve both its performance and comfort, without detracting from its timeless good looks. Well-maintained and with low mileage, it would be a credit to any collection of classic or sports cars or bikes, but is also ready to ride and enjoy.
