2004 FERRARI 575M MARANELLO - FIORANO HANDLING PACK

KEY FACTS

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Like the very first car to wear a Ferrari badge, and the first Ferrari to win at Le Mans, this 575M is finished in red - namely the iconic Rosso Corsa. Its exterior is also embellished with factory-fit Scuderia wing shields.
• The car was specified from the factory with the ‘Fiorano Handling’ package, which significantly improves the handling, adding stiffer springs, a thicker anti-roll bar, uprated brake pads, and adjustments to the wheel geometry.
• Its interior is trimmed in Beige leather upholstery, complemented by Nuovo Cuoio carpets. The cabin also features electric windows, air conditioning, a Sport mode button, electrically adjustable seats, and the original Ferrari stereo head unit. In the boot is the original space-saver spare wheel.
• It rides on the standard 18-inch five-spoke wheels, housing standard brake discs and red callipers, and shod in new Pirelli P Zero tyres.
• This particular car has an aftermarket Capristo exhaust fitted, allowing the engine to breathe more easily and enhancing the aural theatre of that raucous V12 under acceleration.
• Accompanying the car is the original book pack plus invoices for the recent £14,000 of expenditure with HR Owen. It also comes with the original complete toolkit and jack, plus three original remotes and two keys.

CONDITION

• The seller is not aware of any prior bodywork damage; however, there is a small crack on one corner of the black front splitter, and some minor surface scuffs.
• Its Rosso Corsa paintwork may be original and is described as being in fair order. There are small stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper, as well as along the sill covers. There also appears to be a fluid stain just behind the front right wheel, and some light scratches elsewhere commensurate with the age and mileage.
• There is some paint fade on the window trim surrounds, as well as chipping and flaking of the black wing mirror mounting point covers.
• Under the bonnet, the binding around the front section of the insulation cover has frayed and come away.
• Inside, the Beige leather upholstery is in good condition. There is light wear to the driver’s seat in line with the use, but no heavy wear. The door panels and dashboard also present well, and the switchgear is in good order.
• There are no known electrical faults.

SERVICE HISTORY

• While there are a few stamps in its original service book from the supplying dealer, a proper maintenance record from Malaysia is not on file. Hence, having acquired it from the previous owner following a divorce settlement, the current keeper therefore decided to put it through a comprehensive £14,000 mechanical recommissioning at HR Owen in the UK.
• This work took place at 32,100km (19,946 miles), and included a full annual service, renewal of the cam belt and auxiliary belts, new cam cover gaskets, all coils and spark plugs, injector seals, and a banjo bolt. The coolant was also flushed and replaced, as was the power steering fluid and transmission oil.
• The front and rear brake discs were all replaced, four new Pirelli P Zero tyres were fitted, and a new battery was installed. The bonnet gas struts were renewed, the air conditioning system was serviced, and other minor jobs were attended to.

SUMMARY

This Ferrari 575M Maranello is a low-mileage and eminently usable example of the marque’s flagship grand tourer, benefiting from an extensive recent mechanical overhaul. While the next owner may choose to tidy up some of the cosmetic imperfections, the car is ready to drive immediately, and benefits from the desirable Fiorano Handling package. With an increasing focus on downsized engines and turbocharging, the 575M is among the last of its kind; a refined and comfortable long-distance GT, powered by a glorious high-capacity naturally aspirated V12. It offers a refreshingly analogue driving experience, and still delivers the Ferrari magic from behind the wheel nearly 20 years after its launch.
