This 2004 BMW M3 (E46) Convertible is finished in a factory black-on-black colour scheme and is presented in excellent condition. A superb open-top driver’s car, it is powered by the 338bhp 3.2-litre S54 straight-six engine, driving the rear wheels via the desirable six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows only 49,100 miles from new.

First registered on 29 April 2004, this example was specified from the factory in Carbon Black with a black Nappa leather interior and black soft top. The car is original and unmodified, and presents very well today.

The bodywork is in excellent condition, with tight panel gaps and a deep gloss to the Carbon Black paintwork, which appears as a stunning dark blue in the sunlight. There are a small number of age related stone chips that have been touched up, but the car is not believed to have been repainted. As the pictures show, there is some minor age-related deterioration to the wing mirror glass and front badge. The 19-inch alloy wheels appear to be in good order, with only minor scuffs visible around the rims.

Moving inside, the black leather seats are in very good condition and showing minimal wear; particularly the rear seats which have barely been used. Plastics appear to have minimal marks, and overall the interior presents excellently. Optional equipment includes electric heated memory seats, climate control, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, electric folding mirrors, and an original BMW Business media system with satellite navigation.

This car is also sold with optional colour-matched hard top, hard top stand and wind deflector. These items each have fitted storage bags. The soft top is in excellent condition and functions perfectly, as shown in the video below. Internal painted areas including behind the seats and under the bonnet present very well indeed. The boot area is also in excellent condition, complete with six-disc CD changer and tool kit. The original first aid kit can be found under the passenger seat and the emergency torch is still in the glovebox.

The car has a comprehensive maintenance history, with the stamped book shown in the photos below and a file of documentation. The most recent service was carried out in May 2020 by SMB Autos in Buckinghamshire, which comprised a full Inspection II service including replacement of the micro-filter, as well as a thorough check of the rear sub-frame.

The two services prior to this were an oil change service in April 2018 at 47,400 miles, again by SMB Autos, and an Inspection I service in April 2016 at 43,763 miles, carried out by Sutherland Cars. Other maintenance work in recent years has included a new battery, new rear springs and new rear discs and pads.

The most recent MOT test was on 26 May 2020 at 49,057 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever. The tyres are all high-performance Michelin Pilot Super Sport items, which were fitted approximately 4,000 miles ago.

This BMW M3 Convertible is an exciting performance car, and an increasingly sought-after modern classic – especially those with the involving manual gearbox. This example benefits from low mileage, impressive service history, and the presence of the original hard top for ultimate flexibility. It is an extremely well cared-for car that is sure to delight its next owner, particularly during the warm summer weather.
