2004 AUDI RS6 AVANT PLUS

This Audi RS6 Avant Plus is a powerful and practical family car, presented in good condition throughout and with relatively low mileage. Under the bonnet is a 4.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8, producing a substantial 473bhp, coupled to a five-speed ZF automatic transmission. The odometer shows 77,150 miles.

Building on the standard RS6 of the time, the Plus variant not only featured a more powerful engine, but was also equipped with a sports exhaust. The ride height was also lowered by 10mm, and firmer shock absorbers were installed. The Plus model could accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.4 seconds, and go on to a top speed of 174mph.

An original UK car, first registered in September 2004, this RS6 Plus has just three previous registered keepers. The current owner acquired the car in 2009, and has since covered some 50,000 miles behind the wheel.

Today, the bodywork presents in generally very good condition, with flush shut lines and consistent panel gaps. There have been two small dings on the doors - the unfortunate result of other drivers opening their own doors onto it - both of which were professionally fixed. The metallic black paint has some stone chips around the front, and some minor scuffs elsewhere, as shown in the photo gallery. The seller notes some bubbling of the paint protection film around the front wheel arch and bumper – but the underlying paint is unaffected. It rides on the correct set of 19-inch five-arm alloy wheels finished in anthracite, which have been refurbished and are pristine.

In the cabin, handsome tan leather contrasts pleasingly with the dark exterior, and remains in very good order, with only minor marks and wear commensurate with the age and mileage. The rest of the interior trim also looks smart, with no damage or defects. The car received a full health check in June 2020, when all of the electrics and switchgear was tested - and no faults were found. A plaque just ahead of the gear shifter confirms this as car number 309 of just 999 built for European markets.

Mechanically, this RS6 Plus is in fine fettle, and has a comprehensive service history with all the appropriate paperwork, most recently benefiting from a full service at Audi and RS specialist Camspec in West Sussex, carried out in June 2020 at 76,990 miles. This consisted of a full inspection and oil change, renewal of both front rear lower arms, replacement of the auxiliary fuel pump and centre exhaust sleeve, and fresh brake fluid. The Dynamic Ride Control system and gearbox were also inspected to ensure smooth operation. The brakes were noted as 40% worn, and the tyres noted as having 6mm of tread.

Prior to this, Camspec also serviced the car in August 2017, at 76,832 miles, when the ribbed cam belt was replaced, along with the water pump, front oil seal, coolant pipe and seals, and the thermostat. It also received a new high-level brake light, front and rear wipers, aerial mast, and rear view mirror. The brake fluid was replaced, the gearbox rear drive flange prop seals were renewed, and new oil cooler pipes were also fitted. The alloy wheels were fully refurbished at this time. Over the last three years – during which the car has only covered a few hundred miles – the seller has invested more than £5,000 in improving and maintaining this limited-edition RS model.

The most recent MOT test was on 17 June 2020 at 76,995 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. It had previously failed the day before, but the minor defects and advisories listed were immediately rectified by Camspec as detailed above. The wheels are shod in Kumho tyres all round, which are in great condition with 6mm of tread remaining.

All of the original supplied books and accessories remain with the car, along with two flip keys. The factory-fitted RS silver door mirror casings were removed by the seller to give the car an all-black exterior appearance, but the original items are included in the sale. An additional anti-hijack security system is also fitted.

This Audi RS6 Avant Plus is a very rare ‘super estate’, presented in original and unmolested condition, and with a handsome factory specification. The seller has owned the car for more than 10 years, and has never abused or tracked the car, using it as his primary family transport until it was taken off the road for most of the last five years. It has been started and run to keep it in good order, and RS specialist Camspec - which has stated that it is a very clean RS6 - would be happy to discuss the car with prospective buyers. A superb modern classic that is very practical and yet also great fun to drive; this is an opportunity not to be missed.
