2003 TVR TUSCAN

This 2003 TVR Tuscan is a lively British sports car, with an appealing Crystal Topaz finish, which has been very well maintained. Under the bonnet sits the 3.6-litre Speed Six engine, producing 350bhp and 290lb-ft of torque, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 63,931 miles from new.

First registered in July 2003, this TVR has been with its current keeper for 12 years, with two previous keepers on the logbook. The service history is notable in that all maintenance from new has been carried out by the supplying dealer – HHC Sportscars in Hexham – giving the excellent traceable provenance.

The bodywork of this Tuscan is all in excellent shape, with flush shut lines and smooth panels. It has received some fresh Crystal Topaz paintwork around the front end in the past, though there is a smattering of stone chips across the front grille element and mirror caps, while the vendor has reported that a small scratch can be seen to the side of on the boot lid. Within the last five years, the vendor has had the chassis inspected and any corrosion attended to, including cleaning, zinc priming, repainting and treating with rust-proofing wax.

The twin exhausts are in good shape, as are the various body trims and light lenses. The removable Targa top roof presents well and fits as it should, and the car rides on a set of refurbished original 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the original cream leather upholstery is in good condition, with just some modest age-related wear to the seats. They present with a handsome patina, while the leather-clad door cards, centre console and dashboard inserts are all in excellent shape. A few light scratches can be seen on the exposed aluminium pedals and metal switchgear surrounds, though all of the electrics are believed to work as they should.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in May 2019 at 61,011 miles, where technicians at HHC Sportscars in Hexham carried out a lubrication and inspection service, also replacing the brake fluid, nearside front indicator bulb, engine coolant hoses and the second lambda sensor. The engine underwent a diagnostics check before being re-tuned, while the throttle was balanced and the idle speed reset.

Prior to this, HHC Sports Cars carried out routine servicing in August 2017 at 58,240 miles, and in June 2015 at 53,491 miles, also replacing the heater ECU, radiator and coolant pipe, before treating some light corrosion and applying a Waxoyl coating to the chassis. The summary below shows the regular servicing from new, all at HHC.

The most recent MOT test was on 6 April 2021 at 63,293 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The Toyo Proxes tyres are in reasonable condition, with 4mm of tread left at the front, and 3mm at the rear.

Accompanying the vehicle is the original service book, along with the previous three service invoices.

This TVR Tuscan is a very smart example of an exciting British sports car, which has been driven and enjoyed as intended, but also boasts a comprehensive service history. Offered in very good condition throughout, this characterful two-seater would make an excellent companion for B-road jaunts or road trips, or could prove to be immense fun at track day events.
