This 2003 Porsche 986 Boxster is a highly usable mid-engined sports car, presented with a full service history and in superb mechanical and cosmetic condition. This is a post-facelift example of the 986 Boxster, featuring a re-worked exhaust pipe and air intake, revised bumpers and a glass window with heating element. Its 2.7-litre flat-six engine produces 225bhp, can hit 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and will go on to 157mph, driven through a five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently indicates 65,162 miles from new.

First registered in March 2003, this 986 Boxster has five previous registered keepers, and has been in the vendor’s possession for the last six months. He specifically bought the car for a summer road trip with his young son, with the intent of selling come the autumn. He notes the vehicle was with the previous owner for ten years, who covered low annual mileage during their time with it.

The Midnight Blue paintwork is in good condition, though the owner has reported some minor stone chips to the bonnet and that a small repair has been carried out to the front spoiler. The 986 rides on 18-inch Porsche five-spoke alloy wheels, which present in superb condition all round. The soft-top roof remains neat, with one or two minor scuffs, but it holds its shape and fits very well.

Inside, the dark blue leather appears to be completely original and presents excellently. There is some very light wear to the outer bolsters, but overall the cabin is in great shape. The dashboard and driver controls remain free of scuffs and other damage, and the vendor has reports that everything works as it should, with no electrical faults and no warning lights present on the dashboard.

The last service was in July 2020 at 64,162 miles, where the technicians at specialist Revolution Porsche in Batley changed the engine oil, filters, poly belt, spark plugs, ignition coils, brake fluid, bump stops, stem washers and front top mounts, before giving the car a wheel alignment.

Prior to this, in July 2018 at 62,994 miles, the car received a minor service as well as a new track rod end, two new tyres, and a new power steering pipe. In July 2017, at 62,288 miles, a standard service was carried out, featuring an oil and filter change.

The most recent MOT test was on 16 July 2020 at 64,145 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. In fact, every single one of the car’s 15 annual MOT tests from new has been a first-time pass, which is surely an indicator of a well-maintained vehicle. The vehicle rides on a combination of Michelin tyres at the rear and Marshal tyres at the front, with around 4mm and 7mm of tread remaining respectively.

The vehicle comes with the original Porsche handbooks, three keys and all prior MOT certificates, as well as a comprehensive service history record, backed up by the original stamped booklet and numerous receipts.

This Porsche 986 Boxster is a clean example of an exciting and engaging roadster. Powered by a 225bhp flat-six with an involving manual transmission, this is a great driver’s car, not to mention a superb value modern classic. Benefiting from extensive maintenance history and presented in very good order, this should prove to be a savvy purchase for its next owner.
