2003 PORSCHE 911 (996) TURBO

This Porsche 911 Turbo is a well-specified and usable example of the 996-generation all-weather supercar. Under the bonnet is a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Mezger’ flat-six engine producing 414bhp and 413lb-ft of torque. This power is directed to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer reads 83,266 miles.

First registered on 1 March 2003, this original UK-market example has been enjoyed and maintained by the owner for the last three-and-a-half years. It has been maintained by a mix of official Porsche dealers and marque specialists throughout its life, including Porsche Centre Reading, GT One Ltd and Nine Excellence, highlighting the level of care taken with this excellent high-performance car.

The car presents well in its Seal Grey metallic finish. There are a handful of small stone chips to the front bumper which have been touched in by the current vendor, as well as a minor scuff on the corner. Minor chips on the rear spoiler are also visible. The headlights appear to have resisted the yellowing which can afflict 996s, and along with the glass and badges are in very good overall condition. The retractable rear spoiler remains in working order, as does the optional sunroof.

This example has aftermarket upgrades including H&R lowering springs, a Cargraphic exhaust system with stainless steel manifolds, a Samco boost hose kit, forged actuators and diverter valves, and a K&N panel air filter. It is also fitted with Apex SM10 alloys, which are all in excellent condition, and with the original Turbo ‘twist’ wheels also included in the sale.

Inside, the Porsche’s black leather trim is original and in very good order, with only modest wear and some wrinkling in the upholstery. All switchgear presents well, with the gear knob, handbrake cover and steering wheel also in good condition. During the vendor’s ownership, the windscreen has also been replaced, with the correct Porsche windscreen sourced and fitted in July 2020.

This 996 Turbo has benefited from regular maintenance throughout its life. The most recent minor service was carried out in March 2020 by marque specialist Nine Excellence at 81,906 miles, with an engine oil and filter change, and replacement of the pollen filter.

Prior to this, the same specialist serviced the car in March 2019 at 78,466 miles. In March 2018 at 74,117 miles, a major service was carried out at Nine Excellence, which included replacement of the engine oil and filter insert, the coil packs and spark plugs, and all three radiators and air-conditioning condensers – with wire mesh grilles installed for added protection of these parts.

During the vendor’s ownership, the alternator was replaced in March 2020. The brake callipers were also refurbished earlier this year, with the front suspension top mounts and low control arms replaced in August 2018.

The most recent MOT test was on 2 March 2020 at 81,912 miles. This was a first-time pass, with the only advisories noted for windscreen damage and wiper blades, which have since been replaced as mentioned above. The wheels are shod in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, which have between 4mm and 5mm of tread remaining and are in good condition.

Accompanying the car are its original handbooks, navigation DVDs and historical invoices dating back to 2010. Also included will be the original space-saver spare wheel.

This 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo offers reliable and rapid performance even by modern standards. Presented in a smart colour scheme and with many of the more significant mechanical jobs already attended to, it is ready for many more miles, equally well-suited to being an exciting daily driver as it is a weekend toy.
