2003 PORSCHE 911 (996.2) GT3

This Porsche 996.2 GT3 is a low-mileage example of the lightweight and more focused 911, which the seller describes as being in superb condition, and which has a comprehensive maintenance history. Power comes from a 3.6-litre flat-six ‘Mezger’ engine, producing 375bhp, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 26,250 miles from new.

First registered in September 2003, there are four previous registered keepers on the log book. The seller acquired the car in February 2014.

The bodywork and paint is reported to be in generally immaculate condition, though there are a few minor stress cracks in the paint in one small area of the front bumper - visible in the photo gallery – which is a common foible of the 996. Its silver finish is believed to be original all around the panels, and the seller states that there is no known prior damage. The headlights, which can often become cloudy on the 996 model, are pleasingly clear and free of blemishes. Seals and trims present well around the car, and it rides on the correct 18-inch GT3 wheels, which have no kerbing marks or other damage.

Inside, the no-frills specification is aimed at pure driving pleasure. It has leather-trimmed Recaro bucket seats embossed with the Porsche crest, and basic heating and ventilation. A Porsche CDR23 radio and CD player is also installed. The transmission tunnel is finished in gloss carbon-fibre, and the cabin is also accented by red seat belts.

Its last scheduled maintenance was carried out in February 2020 at 26,185 miles by Porsche Edinburgh. This comprised a minor service, replacement of both front anti-roll bar joints, and steering geometry alignment. Prior to this, it was also seen by Porsche Edinburgh in June 2018 at 26,125 miles for a major service, when the tyres were all replaced. In May 2016 at 25,845 miles, the same dealer carried out a minor service, and renewed the clutch, flywheel, oil tank and slave cylinder.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on 12 February 2020 at 26,188 miles, which resulted in a clean pass. A week or so earlier, it had initially failed on a defective fuel cap and worn anti-roll bar rubber dust covers, but these issues were subsequently rectified.

Its wheels are fitted with Porsche-approved Michelin Pilot Sport tyres in size 235/40 ZR18 at the front and 295/30 ZR18 at the rear. The tyres were fitted two years ago, but have only covered some 60 miles, so remain in as-new condition.

Accompanying the car are all of the handbooks. The service book is marked as a replacement item, but it includes signed stamps for all of the services from 2004 onwards. The seller states that they have almost all of the invoices for its service history, and almost all of the MOT certificates - though of course the latter are also available online.

This Porsche 911 GT3 is a stunning example of the track-focused but road legal 996 model, boasting a pared-back interior that focuses on performance rather than creature comforts, and detailed main dealer and specialist service history.
