This 2003 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG Kompressor is an outstanding example of a luxurious grand tourer, which has been meticulously maintained by just one private owner from new. It is powered by the 5.4-litre supercharged V8 producing 493bhp and 516 ft/lb of torque, driven through the rear wheels via a five-speed AMG SpeedShift automatic transmission. The odometer shows 62,887 miles from new, which is fully supported by the history.
First registered in September 2003, this CL55 AMG Kompressor has remained with the same owner from new until late last year. For the last few months it has been owned by a performance car dealer, and is now offered to a new owner, who will become its second registered keeper.
The bodywork of this car is virtually unmarked. There are no dents or scratches, nor lacquer peel or faded paint. The Brilliant Silver finish remains smooth and even all around the car. All of the light lenses, window glass, seals and exterior trim are likewise in superb condition. The alloy wheels are pristine, with no kerbing marks whatsoever.
Inside, the condition of the cabin does not disappoint. The leather is in great shape, with no damage or staining, and very little noticeable wear. Its burr walnut veneers are also in very good order. The cabin features heated and cooled electrically adjustable massage seats, and all of the functions still work perfectly. This is a full-size grand tourer, so even adults can be comfortable in the rear, where the individual seats remain in superb condition.
Factory-fitted equipment includes dual-zone climate control, cruise control, parking sensors, and even heated door mirrors. A Bose surround sound system with six-disc CD changer is also installed, along with the Comand infotainment system with satellite navigation.
This car has been maintained regardless of cost throughout its entire life by its sole private owner. The last MOT test was carried out on 18 November 2019 at 62,688 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories. In fact, the car has never received a single advisory in any of its MOT tests, which is a testament to the care and attention shown to it.
The most recent scheduled maintenance was carried out in October 2019, which comprised of a major service, and renewal of numerous perishable items with brand-new OEM components, at a total cost of some £5,000. The car has been in dry, secure storage for a few years, so this recommissioning work ensured that the car is now running perfectly again. An itemised list of all the original Mercedes AMG parts used in the work is in the history file.
With the engine oil drained and replaced with correct Mobil 1 fluid, fresh spark plugs fitted and a new oil filter in place, the car was fitted with new air, fuel and pollen filters, the gearbox oil and filter were renewed, and the mineral oil in the air suspension was replaced. The differential oil was changed, along with the brake fluid, brake discs and brake pads all round. A new supercharger belt was fitted, along with new pulleys, and the air-conditioning compressor belt was also replaced. The fuel lines and brake lines were swapped out for brand-new items, and the antifreeze was renewed. Finally, the car was fitted with four fresh Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.
Accompanying the car is its original stamped service booklet, as well as all other literature supplied when the car was new, including the owner’s manual, stored in the unmarked leather wallet. The dealer vendor is also supplying a clean HPI certificate with the car.
This Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG Kompressor is a hugely impressive example of a flagship high-performance grand tourer. Thanks to the meticulous private owner, it still presents superbly more than 16 years after it left the showroom. It is understood that less than 200 of these cars were delivered new to the UK, and few remain in such outstanding condition, and with such extensive recent maintenance. An opportunity not to be missed, especially for the serious Mercedes-Benz collector.
