2003 LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO - MANUAL

This 2003 Lamborghini Gallardo is a very smart example of the modern classic Italian supercar, presented in a timeless black-on-black colour scheme, and supported by a solid maintenance history. It is equipped with a 5.0-litre V10 engine producing around 496bhp, coupled with the desirable six-speed manual open-gate transmission. The odometer currently indicates 62,828 miles from new.

Fist registered in November 2003, this Gallardo was supplied new via Lamborghini London and has four previous keepers on the log book. It has been with its current owner for nearly three years.

The bodywork of this Gallardo presents in excellent overall condition, with no evidence of any prior repairs. The black paintwork is believed to be original, and it has been shielded by an application of PPF to the wing mirrors, lower rear quarters and the sides of the front bumper, which has protected the panels well. The vendor does note some very minor stone chips to the bonnet, though these are only really visible under close inspection. There is also a small lift in the paint at the lip of the rear spoiler, which should be straightforward to rectify. The car rides on the original 19-inch five-arm split-spoke alloy wheels, which appear almost immaculate, with just a small repair having been carried out to a scuff on the nearside front wheel.

Moving inside, this example is finished in black leather upholstery, which is in very good order thanks to a recent professional recolouring treatment. Some age-related creases are still visible, but the seats present with no heavy wear or damage. The door cards and headlining present in similarly impressive condition, as do the contact points on the steering wheel, and the open-gated gear knob. The vendor has reported some slight wear to the climate control buttons, though everything is reported to work as it should, with no electrical issues and no warning lights present on the dashboard. They also report that the variable valve timing solenoids and timing sensors were replaced in the last six months, so the car does not suffer from a false VVT warning light – a common fault on early Gallardo models.

Mechanically, this Lamborghini remains original, with the exception of the exhaust valves that are set to stay permanently open, resulting in an exhaust tone described by the owner as “lovely but perfectly sensible”.

The last service was undertaken in July 2020 at 62,735 miles, where technicians at Car-Tech Prestige in Durham changed the engine oil and filter. Prior to this, in May 2018 at 59,187 miles and in October 2014 at 56,405 miles, similar routine maintenance was carried out. The vendor reports that at the date of purchase in 2018, the car had not enjoyed much recent use, and so comprehensive preventative maintenance tasks were carried out – which are all summarised below. The aim of the work was to ensure that this Gallardo was ‘on the button’.

The most recent MOT test was on 10 November 2020 at 62,808 miles, which resulted in a pass with one advisory to monitor some perishing of the rear tyres. A new pair of Pirelli P Zero rear tyres has been quoted at less than £500, and is the only expected expense for the near future, beyond routine servicing. The front P Zero tyres were renewed last year, and still have 7mm of tread.

The car comes with the original owner’s manual and service book, along with a raft of previous maintenance invoices, MOT certificates and other documentation. Also present are the original toolkit, two keys, the original master key and a handbook pertaining to the car’s tracker.

This Lamborghini Gallardo is a highly original example of the early model, which is presented in excellent overall condition following mechanical refurbishment in the current ownership. The car is arguably all the better for having been driven as intended rather than tucked away in storage, with regular use and servicing meaning that this is a V10 supercar you can actually get out and drive without worrying about preservation of mileage. It has proven to be a thrilling yet reliable car for the vendor, and would be a great addition to any collection.
