2003 FERRARI 360 CHALLENGE STRADALE

KEY FACTS

  • The Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale is presented in excellent condition throughout and boasts intriguing provenance.
  • Under the engine lid is the naturally aspirated 3.6-litre ‘Tipo 131’ V8, which sends up to 420bhp to the rear wheels via a six-speed ‘F1’ automated transmission with paddle shift.
  • First registered in September 2003, this 360 Challenge Stradale has a plaque in the cabin stating that it is the first right-hand drive example produced, which may well be the case, even though there are currently two known lower right-hand drive chassis numbers.
  • It was built for and delivered to Peter Bamford, former CEO of Vodafone UK, as part of the brand’s deal to sponsor the Ferrari Formula One team.
  • Owned by Bamford for 17 years, today the car is offered for sale on behalf of its second keeper from new.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • Created to deliver impressive performance on road and track alike, the limited-run 360 Challenge Stradale is up to 100kg lighter than the standard Modena, and features carbon-ceramic brakes, tuned suspension and revised gearbox software, in addition to modified bodywork which provides 50% more downforce.
  • This example was specified in the rare combination of Nero Daytona with full tan leather covering the carbon-fibre bucket seats and the lower dashboard.
  • It rides on the correct set of 19-inch BBS ‘Challenge’ wheels, which are unmarked and house carbon brakes with subtle black callipers.
  • The car will be supplied with its full original book pack and complete tool kit.

CONDITION

  • Today, there is no bodywork damage, though on the MOT test from 2011 there is a reference to some damage to the nearside rear bumper and nearside indicator lens.
  • It is not known if the Nero Daytona paintwork has had any other remedial work, but it presents particularly well, with only a handful of very minor scuffs above the front driver’s-side wheel arch.
  • Inside, the tan leather-trimmed cabin is in superb condition. While there are very slight creases on the driver’s seat, and light signs of wear on the surfaces of the heater controls and the reverse selector button, this is in line with the car’s use and low mileage.
  • There are no known electrical or mechanical faults with the car, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard.
  • Its last MOT test was conducted on 28 October 2020 at 15,498 miles, resulting in a clean first-time pass.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • This 360 Challenge Stradale’s most recent routine maintenance was a general annual service, which was carried out in April 2021 at 15,509 miles by Ferrari main dealer Jardine Ferrari Colchester.
  • Prior to this, Ferrari Colchester serviced the car in February 2020 at 15,467 miles and in January 2019 at 15,350 miles, when the cam belts were also changed.
