2003 AUDI (C5) RS6 AVANT

This 2003 Audi (C5) RS6 Avant is a thrilling ‘super estate’, which benefits from some discreet modifications and is supplied with a comprehensive maintenance history. Under the bonnet sits the 4.2-litre bi-turbo V8, now tuned to produce 537bhp and 590lb-ft of torque by MRC, coupled with a five-speed ZF automatic transmission with paddle shift. The odometer currently indicates 125,512 miles from new.

First registered in July 2003, this RS6 Avant has been in the hands of its current keeper for seven years and has been fitted with some high-performance modifications, including the MRC Stage 2 ECU and gearbox remaps, K&N air filters, uprated anti-roll bars, H&R coil-over suspension, and a full stainless steel Milltek sports exhaust.

The bodywork is reported to be in excellent shape, with no signs of any previous damage. Its silver paint finish is also reported to be very good, now showing some light stone chips on the front bumper, bonnet and wings. The headlight lenses, body trims and roof rails all present well. It rides on the original 19-inch alloy wheels, which are in superb order, with no kerbing damage.

Inside, the Recaro seats are trimmed with black leather, which presents with some age-related creasing and bunching, but no excessive wear. The piping is all in good shape, and the dashboard and door cards also present well for their age. The cabin’s carbon-fibre inlays are all still present, though there is a surface scratch in the piece above the glove box. The plastic has worn around the central ‘Menu’ control knob, but the rest of the switchgear is in generally good order. The car is equipped with Audi’s Navigation Plus system, park distance control, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control; and there are no known electrical faults.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in September 2020 at 124,338 miles, where technicians at Auto Haus Ltd changed the engine oil and filter, gearbox oil and strainer, before replacing the driver’s clock spring due to an air bag warning light. In 2019, the car received a full service with spark plugs, coil packs and replacement rear brake lines – which are a known weak point on these Audis. Prior to this, in September 2018, technicians at Auto Haus changed the engine oil and filter, also replacing the cambelt, water pump, auxiliary belt, helicoil and offside front CV boots.

The most recent MOT test was on 17 September 2020 at 124,388 miles, which resulted in a pass with one advisory to monitor worn front brake discs and pads, which have since been changed. The wheels are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, which were fitted around 18 months ago and are in good condition.

While the service book was lost, the vendor states that the car had full Audi history prior to his purchase. All receipts that were with the car when he bought it, plus all paperwork since then, are included in the sale.

This Audi RS6 Avant is a tastefully modified example of the acclaimed high-performance estate, which now boasts even more pace and no less practicality. It has been kept in strong mechanical order and presents in very good condition throughout, making it a fun choice for an exciting daily driver, or just as an occasional fast family car for road trips and holidays.
