2002 RENAULT CLIO V6 PHASE 1

This 2002 Renault Clio V6 is a superb Phase 1 example of the coveted modern classic hot hatch, presented in good condition throughout and with some discerning modifications. Under the bonnet is the 3.0-litre V6 engine, with a dyno-proven 230bhp, coupled with the six-speed manual transmission from the Phase 2 model. The odometer currently indicates 66,304 miles from new.

Along with a Phase 2 gearbox, this sporting Clio also features upgraded two-piece front brake discs, performance brake pads front and rear, Leda adjustable suspension, as well as an aftermarket de-cat exhaust. After the Leda suspension was fitted, it was fully set up to a ‘fast road’ specification and corner weighted at Mark Fish motorsport. A front splitter and rear spoiler have been added to the exterior, while inside, the car has been fitted with a roll cage, a Renaultsport Sabelt steering wheel and Cobra bucket seats with Schroth four-point harnesses. First registered in June 2002, this Clio has been with its current keeper for the last eight years.

The bodywork of this Clio presents well, and to the best of the vendor’s knowledge, has never sustained any prior damage. The condition of the silver paintwork has been described as good, and though some light stone chips are present on the front end, these are entirely commensurate with the mileage. The subtle aftermarket front splitter and rear spoiler present well, while the vehicle rides on a set of later Phase 2 18-inch alloy wheels, which are in generally very good condition.

Inside, the Cobra bucket seats present with minimal signs of wear, with the Renaultsport steering wheel also appearing to be in good shape. The plastic dashboard trim appears to be free of any major scuffs, and an aftermarket Pioneer stereo system has been installed. The vendor notes a selection of trim pieces were removed when the roll cage was fitted, though these will be supplied in the sale. There are no warning lights present on the dashboard, but the vendor notes the indicators will not automatically cancel while the aftermarket steering wheel is fitted.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in November 2016 at 64,350 miles, where the car’s owner, a trained mechanic, changed the engine oil, filters, brake fluid and coolant. In November 2018, similar routine maintenance was undertaken, again by the car’s owner. Prior to this, in May 2015, Renault specialist K-Tec Racing in Blandford Forum replaced the cambelt, aux belt and tensioners, before fitting a new water pump, gasket, and front rotor arms.

The most recent MOT test was on 25 January 2021 at 66,074 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The wheels come wrapped in a set of Yokohama Advan semi-slick tyres, with approximately 3.5mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s handbooks and service booklet, as well as a folder of maintenance invoices, the original toolkit and a Leda C spanner for adjusting ride height and damper pre-loads.

This Renault Clio V6 Phase 1 features a number of functional performance upgrades, and presents in very good condition.
