2002 RENAULT CLIO V6 PHASE 1 - 2,106 MILES

This Renaultsport Clio V6 is a stunning modern classic hot hatch with remarkably low mileage and presents in concours-quality condition. This time-warp vehicle is one of only eight UK cars to be painted in this glorious shade of blue from the factory, and is powered by the 227bhp 3.0-litre V6 with a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 2,106 miles from new.

First registered in July 2002, this car has remained in the hands of its present owner for the past three years, although it has only clocked up a handful of miles in that time. There are just two previous keepers on the log book before this, though the first name was only on the V5C for the first day of registration before changing, so it has really only had two owners from new.

The Illiad Blue paintwork of this Clio V6 was a rarity in the UK, with just eight examples making their way over to Britain. This one has had some remedial work carried out over its 18-year life, with the front bumper resprayed due to a scuff and the same treatment applied to the side skirt to fix a mark. The result is an incredibly clean car, with only one very small scratch on the corner of the bonnet. The wheels are blemish-free, and the underside is pristine, having undergone a full restoration underneath the car.

The cabin is, as you might expect from a car with so few miles on the clock, in excellent condition, with the original part-leather and part-suede upholstery and all the original fixtures and fittings. The plastics are all in good condition, and the softer materials on the carpets and gear lever gaiter show few signs of wear. Like all Clio V6s, this car goes without rear seats, but the engine cover and load bays under the bonnet and tailgate are all in excellent order. The seller has noted no warning lights or electrical faults, and says everything works as it should.

The most recent service was carried out in September 2020 by Renault Cardiff, who changed the engine oil and filter at 2,100 miles. That followed services at the same dealer in February 2019 at 2,096 miles and November 2017 at 2,018 miles, with the former including fresh spark plugs, new brake fluid and refreshed coolant, as well as an air conditioning service. The latter, meanwhile, incorporated fresh oil and a new oil filter plus an air conditioning re-gas. The car also went into Renault Cardiff in July 2018 to receive a new cambelt kit, new alternator kit and a new water pump at 2,079 miles. During the current owner’s tenure, the only other major maintenance has been the full underbody restoration.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on September 5, 2020 at 2,100 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The car still wears its original Michelin tyres, which have 6mm of tread remaining.

This Clio V6 comes with a full set of documentation, including invoices for work carried out. The original handbooks are included, too, along with the original Renault document wallets.

This Renaultsport Clio V6 is quite possibly the closest you could find to a Phase 1 car in showroom condition. Despite its incredibly low mileage, it has not simply been left in storage for 18 years, but has been serviced regularly to keep it in good mechanical order. Finished in a very rare colour – one of 8 UK-supplied examples, and one of only 30 Illiad Blue cars worldwide – this is undoubtedly a great opportunity for a serious collector.
