2002 RENAULT CLIO V6 - 29,912 KM

This Renault Clio V6 is a well-maintained example of the marque’s riotous mid-engined hot hatch, which remains true to the unmodified factory specification. Mounted behind the driver is a 227bhp 3.0-litre V6, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 29,912 km.

First registered in February 2002, this Clio V6 has been owned by the seller for around seven years. Like all Phase 1 models, this car was built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing in Sweden, and the plaque in the cabin confirms it is number 918 of the 1,513 produced.

Only five months after delivery, this car was the subject of an accident which resulted in damage to the right rear quarter. Replacement items needed included the shock absorber, airbags, the rear bumper, right sill, flared wheel arch panel, and the roof spoiler, along with some of the floor panels and trim. The work was all carried out at the supplying dealer, at a total cost of €19,766.

Today, the paintwork is described as being in good condition overall, with some stone chips around the front end from road use. The paintwork across the replacement panels was of course freshly applied back in 2002, but otherwise it is understood to be original. All four alloys are in good order, with only some minor damage to the driver’s side front wheel.

Apart from a small part of the upholstery that was replaced after the accident, all of the interior trim is original. The standard dark blue leather and suede material upholstery is in good condition for its age, with some creasing on the bolsters, but no rips or tears. Some minor discolouration is visible on the driver’s door trim, but the rest of the interior presents well, and there are no known faults with any electrics or controls.

The last scheduled maintenance was in February 2019 at 28,424 km, with an engine oil and filter change carried out by Autohaus Eylert GmbH - which has maintained the car exclusively from new. The car has only covered around 5,000 km in the last 10 years, and in 2014 the timing belt and spark plugs were changed. All four tyres are date-coded to 2010, and have plenty of tread.

Accompanying the car is the original stamped service book, instruction manual, and all invoices for the listed repair work. The factory-supplied accessories are also present, including the tool kit.

This Renault Clio V6 is a low-mileage example of an iconic and rare modern classic. Its rear mid-engined format and rear-wheel drive gives the Clio V6 a unique driving experience among its peers, and the car remains as idiosyncratic as the day it was launched. While this car suffered some damage early in its life, it was professionally rectified by the supplying dealer, and now presents in good condition throughout, ready for many more miles with its next owner.
