2002 RANGE ROVER 4.6 VOGUE SE (P38)

This Range Rover 4.6 Vogue SE is a very smart end-of-line example of the breed, presented with a sumptuous Lightstone leather interior. Under the bonnet sits the 4.6-litre Rover V8, coupled with a four-speed automatic transmission. The odometer currently indicates 97,609 miles from new, though as the car is in daily use, this may increase slightly.

First registered in May 2002, this Range Rover has been in the hands of its current keeper for the last six months. It is understood to be one of just 300 final-run Vogue SE models.

The bodywork is all in good shape, and the condition of the black paintwork has been described as excellent. It has benefitted from a resprayed bonnet and new stickering a few years ago to bring the appearance up to scratch. The vendor reports that a few stone chips can be seen around the lower front bumper, though these are commensurate with the mileage. The car features working headlamp washers and wipers, and a working tilt-and-slide sunroof, and it rides on a set of 18-inch set of ‘Comet’ alloy wheels, which are almost pristine. The car has also been fitted with a bespoke Tony Banks stainless steel exhaust, which sounds superb under acceleration but is quiet on tickover, and has a stock appearance from the rear.

Inside, the Lightstone leather is believed to be entirely original, with the vendor noting that the seats have been re-connolised. They now present with just some light creasing, while the leather-clad door cards and lower dashboard are in good shape, as are the carpets – with the latter benefitting from factory rubber overmats from new. Its cabin is trimmed with glossy Piano Black inlays, unique to the Vogue SE, which are in great condition. The car is equipped with heated, electric and memory front seats, satellite navigation, cruise control, auto-dip mirrors, and dual zone climate control. All of the switchgear is reported to be in good working order and even the height-adjustable headrests work. The rear seats are in similarly good condition, and benefit from dual Alpine entertainment screens.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken at 96,500 miles by Absolute Land Rovers in Billingshurst, where technicians changed the engine oil, filter, auxiliary belts, and wiper blades, before replacing the air suspension height sensor and recalibrating the system, plus replacing the airbag and MAF sensor. The propshaft was also greased, as it should be periodically. In 2018, technicians replaced the drop links, track control arms, shock absorbers, drag bar and joints, before greasing the propshaft and carrying out a routine engine oil and filter change. Routine servicing was carried out again in 2017, when the brake pads were replaced. This Range Rover is also equipped with upgraded vented brake discs.

The most recent MOT test was on 4 December 2020 at 94,863 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The wheels come wrapped with correct fitment Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres, which were fitted in 2018.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original warranty and digital guides, along with an extensive history of service invoices, and a stamped service book.

This Range Rover Vogue SE is a superb example of a stylish run-out model, limited to just 300 cars. It presents in very good condition throughout, has been kept in sound mechanical order and would make a superb addition to any collection of modern classics – not to mention a practical and cosseting daily driver.
