This 2002 Porsche 911 (996) Turbo is a well-maintained modern supercar, which has been enjoyed as intended, and which is finished in the timeless colour combination of Basalt Black over a grey interior. Powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Mezger’ flat-six driving all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, this example shows 101,500 miles on the odometer.
First registered on 1 March 2002, this 911 Turbo has four prior keepers. The previous owner had the car for 12 years, and in December 2020 they commissioned a respray of the entire front end, along with having minor patches of rust damage rectified on the rear arches.
Thanks to the aforementioned respray of the front end, the Basalt Black paintwork presents in absolutely fantastic condition, free from the usual front end stone chips that would be expected from a vehicle of this age and mileage. Retaining a deep glossy shine throughout, the paintwork is free from major scratches or dents, with only minor age-related imperfections commensurate with the mileage. The front plastic splitter shows has some scuffs and damage, though this is an inexpensive part to replace should the next owner desire.
Its rear spoiler, often a weak spot on 996 Turbos, was rebuilt at significant expense, and now works perfectly. All four wheels are in excellent condition and are free from kerbing marks, having just been fully refurbished. The brake calipers are in good condition, but could benefit from cosmetic refurbishment to smarten the appearance.
Inside the cabin, the grey leather is in very good condition overall, with only a few minor age-related marks and wear. The leather on the seat headrests has the embossed Porsche crest. The ‘frunk’ is in good condition, with no major staining and only light scuffs on the plastic trim, and the original build sticker is still in place under the bonnet panel. All the electronic systems and instruments are reported to be working as intended.
The last service took place at 101,500 miles during November 2020, and was carried out by Ninemeister Porsche specialists of Warrington. This was a minor service, along with new brake discs being fitted and a four-wheel alignment.
While not stamped in the book, there are numerous invoices in the file covering work in recent years, including services and maintenance at specialist Ninemeister, German Auto Solutions in Leicestershire, and with parts sourced from the likes of Design911. One of the turbochargers has been replaced, it has had the plastic dump valves replaced with metal items (with the originals included), and KW V3 coil-over suspension was fitted by Ninemeister and set up by Center Gravity.
All of the brake lines and brake pads were replaced in 2019, with other recent work including repairs and replacement of various wiring looms, new radiators, rear tyres, and revised suspension geometry. Both air-conditioning condensers were replaced in 2015 by GCR Central. In total, the history file contains receipts and invoices covering around £16,000 worth of maintenance.
The most recent MOT test was carried out on the vehicle on 21 November 2020 at 101,436 miles, and resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The car sits on a set of matching Bridgestone Potenza tyres, with 6mm of tread remaining on the front tyres and 5mm remaining on the rear.
Presenting in great condition throughout and with recent attention to the front end and wheel arches, this Porsche 996 Turbo is ready and raring to go. Complete with a very good history file with extensive recent investment in its condition, and benefiting from some desirable factory options, this is a well-cared for and well-optioned car that would make for a fantastic weekend toy or high-performance daily driver.
