This 2002 Porsche 911 (996) Turbo is a thrilling and highly usable supercar, with a rare colour scheme, low mileage, and a comprehensive maintenance history. Under the engine lid is a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Mezger’ flat-six producing 414bhp, which powers all four wheels via a five-speed Tiptronic transmission. The odometer currently indicates 57,681 miles from new.
First registered in July 2002, this 996 has three previous keepers on the log book, with the fourth acquiring it in June 2020. It is now offered for sale by the trade.
The sculpted bodywork of this 996 Turbo is in good condition, and to the best of the vendor’s knowledge, has never undergone any prior repairs. The condition of the paintwork is described as excellent, presenting with just one or two very minor blemishes around the front end. All of the light lenses and body trims appear as they should, with no cracks or scratches. The vehicle rides on 18-inch Turbo ‘Twist’ alloy wheels, which remain in superb condition with only very minor paint chips, and sit in front of red brake callipers and substantial discs.
Moving inside, the car’s ruffled Olive leather presents with some creasing, though this is commensurate with the mileage, and the seats have no heavy discolouration or damage. The carpets are in good order, and the plastic interior trims present well, with no deep gouges or cracks. The cabin comes equipped with a period car phone, electric sunroof and heated seats, as well as automatic air-conditioning and the PCM media system. There are no warning lights on the dashboard, and the only known foible is that the rear spoiler can sometimes stick when operated via the interior switch, which is a common 996 fault.
The most recent service was in January 2019, where technicians at Hippo Service Centre in Blackburn changed the engine oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs and coolant, before fitting new brake discs and pads all round. Prior to this, routine maintenance was also carried out in October 2016 at 55,600 miles and August 2015 at 53,900 miles by Queensgate Garage in Burnley.
The most recent MOT test was on 3 June 2020 at 57,522 miles, which resulted in a pass with only one advisory to monitor some minor damage to the nearside front of the windscreen, which is not adversely affecting the driver’s direct line of sight. The wheels come wrapped in a set of Continental SportContact2 tyres all round, which the vendor reports have around 6mm of tread remaining.
Accompanying the vehicle is the original service book, with six stamps from official Porsche main dealers, and the next six from independent workshops. Alongside it are the 911 Turbo owner’s manual, Porsche Communication Management handbook, dealer and service directory information, code card, and two original keys.
This Porsche 996 Turbo is an engaging yet relatively practical supercar, presented with a comprehensive service history and in good order throughout. Combining impressive outright performance with everyday refinement and usability, this Porsche is a great all-rounder, and could make for an exciting daily driver or a reliable entry point to modern classic supercar ownership.
