2002 PORSCHE 911 (996) TURBO

This 2002 Porsche 911 (996) Turbo is a sought-after contemporary performance car, boasting a rare factory colour scheme and presented in outstanding condition. It is powered by the 414bhp 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six ‘Mezger’ engine, with four-wheel drive via the six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 58,261 miles from new.

An original right-hand drive UK-supplied car, this 996 Turbo was ordered with a bespoke factory specification through the Porsche Exclusive programme, which included the special order colour of Polar Silver Metallic with a full Metropole Blue leather interior. It was first registered in February 2002. The vendor acquired the car last year and has only driven it sparingly. With other cars to devote his attention to, he is now offering this Porsche to a new enthusiast owner.

The car’s bodywork remains in superb condition, and the light blue tinge of the Polar Silver paint means that this 996 Turbo stands out among the more common silver and grey hues. The vendor reports that the finish is excellent with no dents or scratches, and only a few small scuffs caused by speed bumps on the lower black plastic valance on the front. It sits on the original and correct set of 18-inch alloy wheels, which are pristine. All of the window glass, light lenses and body seals are also in great shape.

Inside, there is no damage to the Metropole Blue leather upholstery, and it shows only light wear from use. The electrically adjustable comfort seats also have memory settings for the driver, and adjustable lumbar support on both sides. This 911 was specified from the factory with Porsche Exclusive trim options, including leather around the instrument surround, dashboard and defroster vent trims, and the speaker surrounds.

There are some small scuffs on the door card leather trims and minor scratches to the plastics in places, as well as some marks on the back of the passenger seat clearly from brushes with luggage. In all other respects, the cabin presents very well indeed, and all of the switchgear works as it should, including the electrics for the tilt-and-slide sunroof.

Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control, cruise control, rear parking sensors and the Porsche CR-22 stereo system. The front boot is in excellent order, and the factory build sticker remains attached under the lid. A space-saver spare wheel is present, along with original tools.

This Porsche has outstanding maintenance history, with 16 stamps in the record book. With the exception of 2007, it has been seen and serviced every year from new. Furthermore, it has been looked after exclusively by Official Porsche Centres and independent Porsche specialists.

Its last scheduled maintenance was in June 2019, which was carried out by renowned specialist Autofarm in Oxfordshire. It comprised of a 12,000-mile service with engine oil and filter renewal. Its two prior services were also at Autofarm, in June 2018 at 55,802 miles, and June 2017 at 55,110 miles.

The most recent MOT test was in June 2019 at 57,576 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with only one advisory about minor wear to the nearside front brake disc. Its alloy wheels are fitted with a set of N3-rated Michelin Pilot Sport tyres in size 225/40 ZR18 at the front and 295/30 ZR18 at the rear. They are date-coded to 2013 and remain in great condition with a good level of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is the original black wallet, containing the driver’s manual, stamped service booklet and all other factory-supplied literature. There is also a large folder of receipts, invoices and old MOT certificates, as well as the two main keys plus the valet key.

This Porsche 996 Turbo is a particularly impressive example of one of the definitive all-weather supercars. It is an unmolested 911 that has been meticulously maintained and kept in superb cosmetic condition. Presented in a rare colour combination with the desirable six-speed manual transmission, this would make a great addition to any Porsche collection, but could even be used as a year-round daily driver.
