2002 MERCEDES-BENZ A160 BRABUS

This Mercedes-Benz A160 Brabus is a superb example of the marque’s quirky compact car, fitted at the factory with the original Brabus styling kit, exhaust and multi-spoke alloy wheels. Under the bonnet sits a 1.6-litre inline-four producing 101bhp, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 29,620 miles from new, fully supported by a comprehensive service history.

First registered in June 2002, A160 Brabus was delivered new to the UK, but just a few months later was exported to Jersey, where it remained until very recently. It has been with its current keeper for four months.

The Mercedes-Benz factory-fitted equipment also featured front and rear parking sensors, folding wing mirrors, heated seats, and full leather upholstery. Its Brabus upgrades include a full bodykit, sports exhaust, aluminium pedals and Brabus alloy wheels.

The bodywork presents in very good order, and there is no known previous damage. The sleek silver paintwork appears in good condition overall, though the vendor has reported a number of minor blemishes. The finish to the offside front wing had suffered a minor scuff but has been touched in, while there are light scratches around the rear bumper. Some stone chips are also present on the doors, and there are small blemishes on the A-pillars. The car rides on 18-inch Brabus alloy wheels, which have just been refurbished with the correct diamond-cut finish.

Moving inside, the seats are upholstered in blue leather which continues through the door cards and is in superb condition, commensurate with the very low mileage. The dashboard is finished in a combination of blue and grey, and shows minimal wear. The car comes equipped with heated seats and air-conditioning, as well as the original stereo system. Its steering wheel and gear knob are in very good order, as are all the buttons and control knobs. The vendor has reported no issues with any electrics, and no warning lights present on the dashboard.

The last service was undertaken in July 2020 at 29,539 miles, where technicians at Sion Garage Ltd in Jersey changed the engine oil and filter. Prior to this in August 2016 at 19,304 miles, the brake fluid was renewed, as well as the usual engine service, carried out by Ruellans Garage in Jersey. While Jacksons Mercedes-Benz carried out the first service in 2004, all of the servicing between 2006 and 2016 was performed by Ruellans Garage.

After arriving back in the UK, it had an MOT test on 10 August 2020 at 29,605 miles, which resulted in a pass with only one advisory to monitor slightly deteriorated front brake hoses. The car rides on budget tyres in the correct fitment of 225/35/R18 all round, which all have ample tread remaining.

Accompanying the car is the original handbook pack in the leather wallet, along with two keys. The stamped service record is not a Mercedes-Benz item, so it is assumed the original was misplaced and Ruellans Garage completed the history record in a new booklet.

This Mercedes-Benz A160 Brabus is a low-mileage example of an unusual modified compact car, finished with original Brabus exhaust, wheel and body upgrades. Having seen limited mileage due to its island life, but kept well maintained with regular servicing, A-Class should prove to be a reliable runabout that stands apart from others with its rare enhancements.
