2002 HONDA S2000

This 2002 Honda S2000 is a superb example of the Japanese marque’s convertible sports car, presented with low mileage, a desirable colour scheme and a comprehensive maintenance history. Its 2.0-litre naturally aspirated inline-four VTEC engine will rev to 9,000rpm and produces up to 247bhp, which is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently indicates just 34,242 miles from new.

This ‘AP1’ S2000 was first registered in May 2002 and is understood to have just two previous registered keepers. The vehicle spent the first portion of its life in Jersey before being re-registered with the DVLA in January 2020. It is now offered for sale by the trade.

The bodywork remains in good order, with even panel gaps and no evidence of any accident history. The Monte Carlo Blue Pearl paintwork presents in excellent condition, with the vendor noting the bumper has been resprayed due to a small scuff which was originally hidden behind the splitter. There is also a small, faint scratch approximately 1-2cm long on the boot, though overall the finish remains very impressive.

The vendor notes the soft top roof was given an OEM replacement in 2016 by an approved Honda dealer, with invoices present to outline the work done. It now presents as new, with no notable scuffs or fading. This S2000 rides on 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, one of which presents with some light bubbling to the lacquer, but otherwise they remain in very good condition.

The black interior leather is original, and while some light creasing is visible on the seat bolsters, the upholstery is in excellent condition. The vendor notes some interior buttons present with some light tarnishing or have faded in colour, but the dashboard, driver controls carpets and door cards are otherwise in good order. All electrical items are reported to work as they should, with no warning lights present on the dashboard.

The vehicle benefits from a comprehensive service history, with all visits to the same official Honda garage on Jersey. The last service was undertaken in June 2019 at 29,230 miles, where technicians at Derek Warwick Honda replaced the engine oil and filter, before adjusting the handbrake, topping up all fluids and other items per Honda’s ‘A Service’ schedule This includes inspecting the belts, battery, brakes, lights, suspension, steering, interior instruments and air-conditioning.

The same Honda garage carried out a service in February 2018 at 26,369 miles, while in September 2016, at 20,907 miles, they also replaced the brake discs and pads, wheel nuts, and wiper blades before giving the car fresh brake fluid, clutch fluid and anti-freeze. The most recent MOT test was on 6 January 2020 at 29,704 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The wheels are wrapped with four matching Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, in fitment 205/55 ZR16 at the front and 225/55 ZR16 at the rear, which have covered less than 600 miles, so have around 7.5mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying this S2000 are the original owner’s handbooks, service book, Honda information pack, servicing guide, authorised dealer list and Hondacare assistance guide, all in their original folder.

This Honda S2000 is a sought-after modern classic sports car, presented in superb mechanical and cosmetic condition, with a handsome colour scheme and only two previous keepers. Benefitting from regular use, and having an impressive main dealer service history, this original and unmodified example would be equally joyous on longer cruises as it would on weekend B-road adventures.
