2002 FORD FALCON XT - 6,601 KM

This Ford Falcon XT is an outstanding example of the marque’s critically acclaimed full-size sedan, with a smart factory colour scheme and remarkably low mileage. It is powered by the 4.0-litre Barra straight-six producing around 244hp, coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission. The odometer shows just 6,601 km from new.

The BA-generation Falcon represented a substantial re-engineering of its AU model predecessor, delivering more appealing styling as well as the notable addition of ‘Control Blade’ independent rear suspension to give a fine balance of ride comfort and tidy handling. There were also steering and brake upgrades.

This XT model features air-conditioning, electric front windows, electric mirrors, a power sliding driver’s seat, and a CD player as standard. It left the factory in late 2002 finished in handsome Congo Green metallic paint, with an interior in Light Stone cloth. The car has covered less than 7,000 km from new, and remains in exceptional as-new condition. The vendor has owned the car for the last two years.

Its bodywork and paint are reported to be in excellent condition, with flush shut lines and no damage to the panels whatsoever. The Congo Green finish is superb, with no scuffs or scratches to be seen, and is accented by coachlines down each flank, as well as a rear wing. The car rides on five-spoke 17-inch alloys, which are in great shape.

Inside, the Medium Light Stone cloth upholstery is in superb order, with no significant wear or discolouration. The headlining is also in very good condition, along with the door panels and dashboard. All of the carpeting presents well, as do the kick plates over the door sills. There are no reported faults with any of the electrics, and all of the switches and buttons work as they should.

Accompanying the car is the original BA-series warranty and service guide, a set of keys, and the original spare wheel and jacking kit.

This Ford Falcon XT is a superb example of the car that won Wheels magazine’s ‘Car of the Year’ title in 2002, and which was a major success story for the marque in Australia. While many such cars are now looking shabby with very high mileage, this is a remarkable ‘time warp’ car that still looks showroom fresh, and which would be an unusual addition to any Ford collection. It could of course also be put into service as a versatile family car should the next owner wish, where it should prove to be a reliable and refined vehicle.
