2002 FERRARI 575M MARANELLO - LHD

This Ferrari 575M Maranello is a superb example of the marque’s gorgeous grand tourer from the millennium era. Powered by a 5.7-litre, naturally-aspirated V12 producing 508bhp and 434lb-ft of torque, this example uses Ferrari’s ‘F1’ automated manual paddle-shift gearbox. The odometer reads 63,400 km (39,394 miles) from new.

This European-market, left-hand drive car was first delivered to Germany in November 2002. The service history shows it then spent several years in Spain between 2007 and 2015, before importation to the UK in 2016. The current vendor has cherished and maintained the car for two years.

First launched in 2002, the 575M Maranello is an updated version of the 550 Maranello, with larger brake discs, exterior visual updates and improved weight distribution – not to mention the larger and more powerful engine. The ‘M’ in the name stands for ‘Modificata’, and the design was superseded in 2006 by the Ferrari 599 GTB.

Finished in its original shade of Grigio Titanio, this coupe presents well, with no obvious defects in the understated yet elegant colour. The shut lines appear even with consistent gaps, indicating original panels, while the light lenses, front splitter and badging are free of damage. The exhaust tips show very slight signs of ageing. The original five-spoke alloys are still fitted to the vehicle and are in generally good order, with only minor flaking.

Moving inside, the 575M retains its factory-fitted Nero leather interior. The seats are in good order, with only some noticeable outer bolster wear on the driver’s side as you would expect and scuffs in the leather beside the electrically-operated seat switches from the operation of the handbrake. Looking behind the seats, the leather luggage straps and carpeted luggage bay are in excellent condition, with only light signs of use.

All switchgear is present and operational with some patina on the paddles. The car retains the original Becker stereo. The vendor notes that there is a hole in the coin tray, and that the dashboard exhibits signs of minor shrinkage, typical of Ferraris of this era.

This elegant grand tourer was last serviced at 63,039 km (39,170 miles) in March 2019 by Italian supercar specialist Autofficina, where an oil and filter service was performed. This visit also included additional maintenance items, including replacement of several perished radiator pipes and inlet manifold gaskets. The clutch actuator was also bled, while the undertrays were cleaned and refitted.

In January 2019, the car was seen by Carrs Ferrari of Exeter. This was a major service including a cambelt change, all at a cost of £3,500. The vendor reports that the check engine light can appear intermittently, but that performance is unaffected and that no underlying cause has been diagnosed – so it may be a poor electrical connection.

The most recent MOT test was on 20 January 2020 at 63,299 km (39,332 miles). This test resulted in a pass, with advisories for the front brake pads and aged front tyres. The wheels are shod in a set of Pirelli P Zero Rosso items, though evidently the front pair is due for replacement. The more expensive rear tyres were replaced in 2019 and have seen less than 500 km (311 miles) of usage.

The car will be supplied with its original Ferrari handbooks, stamped service history and numerous invoices, as well as two keys.

Combining impressive pace with timeless good looks and ample luggage space, this Ferrari 575M Maranello is a compelling high-performance grand tourer. While it would make an exciting weekend toy, it is also a worthy road trip companion, with the naturally-aspirated Ferrari V12 making light work of trans-continental journeys.
