2001 RANGE ROVER 4.6 HSE (P38)

KEY FACTS

  • A handsome example of the luxury modern classic 4x4, in HSE specification, and featuring an uprated stainless-steel exhaust and recent head gasket replacement.
  • Under the bonnet sits a 4.6-litre V8 engine, producing 215bhp which is delivered to all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
  • First registered in Japan, this example was imported to the UK in recent years and was re-registered in March 2019.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • The car is finished in Blenheim Silver over a black leather cabin, complete with handsome walnut-veneer accents on the centre console, steering wheel, door cards and glove box.
  • Included in the HSE factory specification are electrically adjustable heated front seats with two-position driver’s seat memory, dual-zone climate control, cruise control and an electric sunroof.
  • The original air suspension system has been replaced by coilover suspension for improved durability and reliability, and the exhaust back box has been replaced by a stainless-steel single-exit exhaust, which does not intrude while cruising, but adds a more characterful note under acceleration.
  • The original stereo has also been replaced with a more modern Pioneer DAB radio/CD player with aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity.
  • The car is accompanied by its V5c, spare wheel, and various receipts and invoices detailing its maintenance and light modifications.

CONDITION

  • The bodywork is in very good condition, with no previous accident damage reported.
  • The seller also reports that the car is rust-free on top and underneath, and that the chassis is totally original with no welding repairs. It has been stored in a dry, underground garage by its current owner.
  • The Blenheim Silver paintwork is described as being in fair order, and has been repainted on the nearside front wing and door. There is no bubbling in the finish, though other imperfections include a few scuffs on the front bumper, as well as stone chips on the grille, door mirror covers and rear bumper.
  • Inside, the original leather-trimmed cabin presents well. There are some signs of use on the centre console and seats, as well as a mark on the driver’s side A-pillar trim, which the owner states is the result of a hands-free kit mounting that has since been removed. There is also some very minor sagging of the headlining at the rear of the car and around the sunroof.
  • The car is in good mechanical and electrical order, though the driver’s side window displays a setting issue on the dashboard when operated – despite the window working correctly.
  • The car’s last MOT test was conducted in March 2021 at 117,666 km, which it passed first time, with advisories noting a minor oil leak and slight seepage in the steering pipe.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The car was last serviced in January 2021 at approximately 116,000 km by Duke of London in Brentford, who changed the engine oil and filter, differential oil and gearbox oil, and installed a new fuse box.
  • All the head gaskets were replaced in July 2021 by Land Rover specialist Gigglepin, who also replaced a few rear brake light bulbs and a faulty windscreen washer jet.
