This Porsche 911 (996) Turbo is an involving and exciting high-performance road car, with a high factory specification including a comprehensive carbon-fibre trim package, and superb main dealer service history from new. Its engine is the 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six ‘Mezger’ motor producing 414bhp, with four-wheel drive via the desirable six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 57,016 miles.
A 2002 model-year car, this UK-supplied example was first registered in November 2001. The factory specification includes heated seats, sunroof, and Porsche Communication Management, as well as the aforementioned carbon-fibre pack. The seller purchased the car 18 months ago, and has enjoyed around 1,200 miles behind the wheel.
Its bodywork is in excellent condition, and the Basalt Black paint finish presents very well all around the car. Blemishes noted by the seller include small ‘road rash’ stone chips at the front, very minor scuffs on the trailing edge of the driver’s door, and some dents and scuffs in the plastic front lip spoiler. There is also a small blemish near one of the roof bar mounting point covers, which is shown in the gallery.
The original registration plate was removed, with the fixing points filled and professionally painted. It is a perfect look for someone who likes the flush appearance of a vinyl sticker in lieu of a hard plate, but the original mounting holder comes with the car, should the next owner wish to change it back. The cherished plate on the car is not included in the sale.
Under the bonnet is the factory build sticker, and the boot area itself is clean and tidy. The shut lines are sound, and the door jambs are also in great shape. It rides on a correct set of 18-inch Turbo alloys, which are in excellent condition. If the next owner is a perfectionist, then they might wish to renew some of the wheel bolts in due course. The wheels are accented by red painted brake calipers.
The cabin was specified from the factory with an extensive carbon-fibre package, which includes gloss-finish trim for the centre console, dashboard strip, side and centre air vent surrounds, speaker covers, door handles, storage lids, and sill covers. There is also carbon-fibre trim for the gear lever knob, handbrake grip, and steering wheel rim. The option codes indicate that a carbon-fibre defroster strip was originally present at the base of the windscreen, but it is not fitted.
Its seats are all upholstered in supple draped black leather, which remains in superb condition throughout. There is very little wear to speak of, and only signs of use commensurate with the age and mileage. The electrically adjustable front seats are heated, and also feature the Porsche crest embossed in the headrests. The driver’s seat was specified with the thinner seat cushion to improve headroom, and it also has memory settings.
Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and a sunroof. The PCM 1 system with navigation, telephone module, cassette player and CD changer preparation is also installed, along with the BOSE surround-sound system. All of the electric functions work as they should, including the tilt-and-slide sunroof.
This 996 Turbo has been looked after exclusively by Official Porsche Centres from new, and is in impressive mechanical condition. Its last scheduled maintenance was in March 2020 at 56,944 miles, with an annual service carried out by Porsche Centre Tonbridge. The only note from their inspection was some slight play in the offside inner track rod end, which could be attended to in due course.
Prior to this, the car was seen and serviced in February 2019 at Porsche Centre Tonbridge, and November 2018 at Porsche Centre Mid-Sussex. During the seller’s ownership, the spark plugs and fuel filter have also been renewed, and the auxiliary drive belt has been replaced, along with some drive shaft rubber boots. The hydraulic wing struts were refurbished at approximately 57,000 miles, it received all new brake discs, pads and fluid at 55,000 miles, and a new clutch at 32,000 miles.
The most recent MOT test was on 14 October 2019 at 56,662 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. The wheels are fitted with Porsche N4-rated Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres, in size 225/40 ZR18 at the front and 295/30 ZR18 at the rear. There is around 7mm of tread remaining at the front, and 4.5mm at the rear.
The car is accompanied by the black book wallet, containing the driver’s manual, stamped maintenance record and other original literature. The space-saver spare wheel and tools are also present.
This Porsche 996 Turbo is a superb all-weather supercar, presented in excellent condition. It boasts a particularly impressive factory specification, with a comprehensive carbon-fibre interior package. The car remains original and unmodified, and has detailed main dealer service history from new. While it could easily be used as an exciting daily driver, this 911 would also make a great addition to any collection as an occasional weekend fun car.
Please note: the cherished plate shown on the car is not included in the sale. It will be switched back to another age-related registration plate in the event of a successful auction.
