2001 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 - CUSTOM

This Land Rover Defender 90 is a bespoke 4x4 icon, featuring some discerning modifications, and finished in a vibrant custom colour. Under the bonnet sits a remapped version of the 2.5-litre five-cylinder Td5 engine with a hybrid turbocharger, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 97,091 miles from new.

Built in 2001, this Defender is now offered for the sale by the trade. Its first registration date in the UK is noted as 8 September 2008 on HPI, though it does not explicitly record a previous overseas registration. Its aftermarket upgrades include a gloss black front grille and headlight surrounds, as well as a ventilated black bonnet and snorkel, not to mention the eye-catching yellow paint.

As an active off-roader, the bodywork of this Defender had some minor panel damage, notably a few dents on both the offside and nearside doors – though it is evidently still a presentable 4x4. The car was originally finished in green, but has since been resprayed in a bold yellow hue. There is also some small batches of bubbling at the bottoms of the doors. All of the body trims, badging and light lenses are sound, while the car rides on 16-inch steel wheels, which have some surface rust but are in good order overall.

Moving inside, the car has been fitted with aftermarket quilted leather CS Sport seats, which have some minor creasing but are in excellent condition. The dashboard, floors and door cards have small marks, but are generally in great shape. This Defender has been fitted with a Sony stereo, which is reported to work as it should, along with all of the factory controls and electrics.

The last service was undertaken in October 2020, where DM Automotive in Shepton Mallet changed the engine oil and filter. The vendor notes the vehicle comes without any prior service history.

The last MOT test was on 13 July 2019 at 80,564 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The certificate remains valid until 13 January 2021, but nonetheless the vendor will hand over the car with a fresh 12-month certificate. The wheels come wrapped with BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tyres, which remain in good condition all round.

This Land Rover Defender 90 is a fun, customised example of the iconic go-anywhere vehicle, presented in a vibrant colour and with a remapped Td5 engine. While the car has been used as an off-roader in recent times, this is a stylish 4x4 that could be put into service as a daily driver, or even used for adventurous road trips.
