2001 FERRARI 360 MODENA - MANUAL

This manual 2001 Ferrari 360 Modena is a thrilling Italian supercar, which is presented in excellent condition from cherished 15-year ownership. It is powered by a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 3.6-litre V8, which produces 395bhp at 8,500rpm and drives the rear wheels via the desirable six-speed gated manual transmission. The odometer shows just 34,696km (21,559 miles) from new.

According to the original stamped warranty booklet, this left-hand-drive 360 Modena appears to have been ordered new via Maranello Concessionaires Ltd in the UK, but was delivered to its first owner via official Ferrari dealer Fast Auto Technic in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where it was road registered on 3 August 2001. There are just two previous owners, and the vendor acquired the car in November 2005. He has used it sparingly since then, and a few years ago it was imported to the UK, where it was re-registered in April 2017.

Finished in Argento Nurburgring, the flowing aluminium body is not believed to have ever suffered from any damage, and all of the panels present in good order. The paintwork has a bright and smooth finish across the body and is described as being in very good condition. The seller states that there are a few minor blemishes on the bottom of the lower passenger-side skirt, which are visible in the gallery, and notes that the driver’s door has been repainted to rectify some scratches.

There are also some small scuffs around the passenger-side wheel arch, which have been touched in, but would benefit from refinishing. It rides on the original 18-inch five-spoke alloys, which are in great shape, with no signs of scratches or kerb damage of any kind.

In the cabin, your eye is immediately drawn to the alluring gated manual gear lever, which the bright polished finish standing in contrast to the black leather across the seats, dashboard and door panels. There is some minor wear commensurate with the age and mileage, including slight creasing and discolouration, though the the driver’s seat outer bolster has been retrimmed.

Light grey carpeting complements the exterior colour scheme and presents well, having been protected by a set of matching factory-fitted floor mats. The black headlining is also in good order and has been reapplied to correct some minor sagging. The interior trim is reported to be in good order throughout, though some of the switches have the common sticky coating issue, which would be straightforward to rectify in the future. There are no known electrical issues, and no warning lights present.

Remaining original and unmodified, this 360 Modena is fresh from a recent major cambelt replacement service in November 2020 at 34,600km, carried out by renowned specialist Aldo Riti at Riverside Performance Engineering. At the same time, Riti installed a new clutch block and adjusted the valve timing and variation phase angles in line with factory specifications.

Prior to this, a major service was carried out in May 2016 at 33,713km, which saw the cambelts, front and rear link rods, engine mounts, ignition coil packs and air-conditioning compressor being replaced.

During the seller’s ownership a number of other maintenance items have also been tended to, including the clutch assembly and thrust bearing, which were replaced in December 2016 at 33,813km.

The vendor reports that the car’s last MOT test was conducted on 11 June 2020 at an indicated 34,573km, which resulted in a pass with no advisories. The wheels are shod in a set of Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tyres, which were fitted in February 2016 and have covered less than 1,000km since.

Accompanying the car are all of its original documents and tools, as well as some invoices for previous service work. The current owner will also supply tailored indoor and outdoor car covers, and the original tool kit is present.

This Ferrari 360 Modena is a stunning Italian performance car, which is now rightfully regarded as a modern classic. Its sonorous naturally aspirated V8 can turn every journey into an event, and with this example’s involving open-gate manual transmission, it is fabulously engaging driver’s car. Benefitting from low mileage and a recent major service at a highly regarded Ferrari specialist, this mid-engined Ferrari is sure to delight its next owner, whenever they choose to get behind the wheel.
