2001 ALFA ROMEO SPIDER 3.0 V6 24V - 17,530 MILES

This Alfa Romeo Spider is a rare and characterful modern classic, boasting a striking Pininfarina design, and genuine low mileage. It is powered by the desirable 217bhp 3.0-litre 24-valve ‘Busso’ V6 engine, with front-wheel drive via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 17,530 miles from new.

Understood to be one of only 38 right-hand-drive Spiders with the 217bhp V6 engine, this car was first registered in June 2001, and there are now five previous registered keepers on the log book. The seller has owned the car for around two years, covering some 600 miles in that time.

The bodywork is reported to be in excellent condition, with no accident damage or unsightly dents in any of the panels. The silver paint finish is in good order, with the seller noting that the bonnet and sides have previously had fresh paint to rectify small marks left by a car cover. There are also some light scratches around the nearside bumper. In general, the car presents very well, with the bright silver showing off the familiar Pininfarina styling lines. It rides on 16-inch ‘teardrop’ alloy wheels, which would benefit from refurbishment, along with a fresh set of wheel bolts, to bring them up to a great standard.

Inside, the car has the desirable Momo sport seats trimmed in full black leather. There is no damage to the upholstery, and only very modest wear commensurate with the low mileage. The rest of the interior trim also presents smartly. There is factory-fitted air-conditioning, and the Clarion stereo is understood to be the original head unit. It has a black fabric soft top, and the mechanism still works well. The seller does state that the hood can occasionally stick temporarily when it has not been used for some time, but that a tap on the small motor rectifies this.

It has had a recent service at Yomac Cars in Dublin, with renewal of the engine oil and repairs to the clutch. Two years ago it was given a major service by specialist Autodelta, which included replacement drive belts.

The most recent UK MOT test was carried out on 28 April 2018 at 16,988 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with the only advisory noting slight wear to the brake discs. Its nearside rear tyre is a budget brand, while the other three are Goodyear Eagle items. The tyres are size 205/50 R16 all round, and have 6-8mm of tread remaining.

This Alfa Romeo Spider is a smart example of the 916-series car, presented with very low mileage, and in superb mechanical condition. The smooth 24-valve ‘Busso’ V6 makes this an even more desirable roadster, and it would make a fine addition to any collection.
