KEY FACTS

• A superb example of the modern classic sports bike, presented in excellent condition throughout and with only two owners from new.
• It is powered by a 150bhp 998cc 20-valve inline-four, which will scream all the way to its 11,500rpm redline and is coupled to a six-speed transmission.
• This R1 was first registered in September 2000, initially owned and enjoyed by a mature rider who kept it in superb order. For nearly seven years it has been owned by a collector, stored indoors as part of a wider collection.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• As a 2000 model-year example, this R1 features a number of improvements over its first-generation predecessor, including more aerodynamic bodywork, a redesigned fuel tank seat for improved rider comfort and control, and re-jetted Mikuni carburettors, which provided improved throttle response, particularly at lower revs.
• Finished in a red with a black and white livery, this example is fitted with a Yoshimura exhaust system, which was fitted by the supplying dealership from new, while the original brake lines have been replaced with more robust braided items.
• The bike will be supplied with its original book pack including the owner’s manual, invoices for its maintenance from new, a number of MOT test certificates and tax discs, and both of its keys.

CONDITION

• There is no known damage to the frame or bodywork.
• The paintwork is thought to be completely original and is in superb overall condition, with some slight rub marks around the seat, but no noticeable stone chips or marks on the nose or front mudguard, which is a testament to the bike’s careful ownership.
• The exterior trims and light lenses are also in great shape, as are the seat, handlebar grips and switchgear.
• There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
• This Yamaha’s last MOT test was conducted on 21 August 2015 at 10,781 miles, resulting in a clean first-time pass. The seller is currently in the process of arranging a new test, which will be carried out before the bike is handed over to its next owner.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This R1’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in 2014 at approximately 10,770 miles, when it was fully stripped and serviced before being placed in a private collection, with work including refurbishment of the EXUP valve and re-checking of the bike’s clearances and bearings.
• Prior to this, AMR Motorcycles performed a full service and bearing check in August 2014 at 10,755 miles, and Yamaha dealer MCS Scotland serviced the bike in September 2012 at 10,541 miles.
