EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Produced in the year 2000, this STi Version 6 represents the final iteration of the first-generation Impreza.
• As a two-door ‘Type R’ model, this lightweight, high-performance example features a close-ratio five-speed gearbox as standard, along with a quicker steering rack, four-piston front brake calipers, an automatic water spray for the intercooler, and an electronically adjustable centre differential.
• It is also equipped with an aluminium bonnet and suspension lower arms, a carbon-fibre strut brace, and the correct Version 6 body kit and rear wing.
• This STi is finished in the iconic colour combination of Deep Blue Mica with gold alloy wheels and black, red and grey interior upholstery.
• Factory-fitted equipment includes air conditioning, electric windows and electrically adjustable door mirrors.
• It rides on the correct set of 16-inch six-spoke alloy wheels, which are in great shape.
• The car has been fitted with a black Alcantara-trimmed Momo steering wheel (though the original wheel is safely stored and will accompany the car), and a more modern JVC stereo. Other than these two items, it is completely original and unmodified.
• The car will be supplied with its original Japanese service records, English service manuals, various handbooks and invoices for its most recent maintenance.
• It also comes with four spare wheels should the next owner wish to preserve the originals and drive with a different set; plus a spares package of a Bosch air filter and approximately a dozen Subaru OEM oil filters.

CONDITION

• There is no bodywork damage or corrosion, and the underside of the car has been fully rust-proofed.
• Believed to be completely original, the paintwork is in excellent condition, and it has just been treated to a full front paint protection film (PPF) application carried out by Auto Wax Works at Bicester Heritage.
• Inside, the cabin presents very well indeed, with original upholstery throughout, which shows no significant marks or wear.
• There are no known electrical or mechanical faults with the vehicle.
• This STi Type R’s last MOT test was conducted on 5 August 2020 at 92,387km, resulting in a first-time pass with one advisory noting some deterioration of the offside front steering rack rubber gaiter.
• The seller will also have another MOT test carried out before the car is handed over to its next owner.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This Impreza’s most recent maintenance was carried out in June 2021 when technicians at Woodburcote Garage rectified a slight misfire by fitting a fresh set of spark plugs.
• Prior to this, it received a major service in 2018 at Subaru specialist Scoobyclinic. This included renewal of the cam belt and tensioner, with all idlers replaced, plus the gearbox and differential oils changed, and fitment of a new clutch and spigot bearing. The geometry was also checked and found to be spot on.
• The car has been given an oil and filter change every six months or 1,000 miles over the last three years.
• During the seller’s ownership the brake callipers have also been fully overhauled, new braided brake hoses have been fitted, and the brake discs and pads have also been replaced.

SUMMARY

Inextricably linked to what many see as the golden era of rallying, the first-generation Subaru Impreza WRX STi is an iconic modern classic performance car. This is a particularly rare and collectible two-door Type R Version 6 Limited – almost impossible to find in such incredible original condition outside of Japan – and will make a fantastic companion on its next owner’s favourite backroads.
